[New App] LevelUp Studio Releases Bright Weather, A Beautifully Minimal And Informative Weather App

Let's speak some truth here right out of the gate: weather apps are a dime a dozen in the Play Store. With the volume of apps designed to tell users the weather, it's really difficult to put out something that stands out in the crowd. Fortunately for LevelUp Studio, it has quite a bit of experience in that field thanks to its incredibly popular app Beautiful Widgets. If you're into informative, yet minimal apps, then the company's newest offering, Bright Weather, should be right up your alley.

After a day filled with Android-flavored excitement (Google Edition phones!), disappointment (they're not really Google Edition phones, and SHIELD is late at the gate), and all points in between, it's time to kick back with some sweet app and game sales. LevelUp Studio Releases A Free Version Of Beautiful Widgets, Gives You Basic Functionality For The Cost Of Nothing

Allow me to be frank for a moment: Beautiful Widgets is one of my most-used, longest-installed widgets since I started using Android. I actually bought it on my OG Droid back in the day, and have literally used it on every device I've owned since then. One of my favorite things about it is the developer – LevelUp Studio does an absolutely fantastic job of not only updating the app, but adding new features fairly often.

Beautiful Widgets Hits v5.1, Brings New Widgets For Tablets, Improved Layouts For 4x1, Beta Channel, And More

Today is national app update day. Not officially, but it sure feels like it. We've already seen updates to high-profile apps like Google Drive and Any.DO, but Beautiful Widgets may have set the bar for excellent updates on February 20th, 2013. The day's not over yet, but this one's a doozie.

So, what sorts of newness does it bring? Lots. Lots of sorts of newness. Like the option to select Weather Underground (wunderground) as your default weather service.

Beautiful Widgets Hits v5, Gets All New Interface, Lockscreen Widget Support, Daydream Support, And More

Oh Beautiful Widgets, how I love thee. This was one of the very first Android apps that I purchased when I got my OG Droid, and I've been using it ever since. Not just because it's an amazingly-good app, but because LevelUp Studio constantly works to make it better and keep it relevant. And today the app reached v5.

Version 5 brings a whole slew of new stuff, including support for Android 4.2's lockscreen widgets and Daydream feature, a completely overhauled (and far more intuitive) UI, Jelly Bean notifications, and may customizable details.

Beautiful Widgets Gets An Update, Gets A Snazzy New Skin Market Site And Multiple Weather Forecasts

Widgets are one of Android's best advantages over other mobile platforms. Unfortunately, not as many app developers give attention to widgets as we'd like, which only makes us appreciate Beautiful Widgets even more. The famous clock/weather/battery widget developer, LevelUp Studio, is updating its suite of widgets with support for multiple weather forecasts and, more awesome than that, a web store for discovering/installing widget skins.

Taking a cue from Google's Play Store*, you can connect your Google account to the Beautiful Widgets Skins Market and automagically send skins to your device over the air and apply them without ever touching your device.

Glowball Officially Hits The Tegra Zone, Still Looks Absolutely Beautiful

Remember way back in May, when NVIDIA showed off Glowball to demonstrate the Tegra 3's awesome quad-core power? Well, it looks like the full version of the visually stunning, technologically fascinating "interactive demo" has made its way to the Tegra Zone.

Glowball isn't quite a game, as it consists of just two levels, and was specifically designed to showcase the Tegra 3's power, but it certainly seems like an enjoyable doodad for your Tegra 3 device.

App Review: Beautiful Widgets

HTC's Sense UI (user interface) includes plenty of features that could make those with vanilla Android jealous, most of which involve the home screen. Phones running the custom UI have their own set of high quality widgets, which includes a "flip clock" that plenty of Android users seem to clamor over. The widget itself is four icons wide and two icons in height, and includes a clock that flips between numbers, the temperature, and icons to denote the current weather.
