[Hands-On] Beats Music May Look Better Than Other Music Streaming Apps, But Like Your Friends Warned, It's Just Too Shallow

Do we need another streaming music service? There's Pandora for people who always want to listen to something new, Spotify for people who want access to a large number of music as soon as it comes out, and All Access for Android users who want to combine streaming new music with the albums they've already backed up to Google Music. Then there's Rhapsody and Rdio for, I guess, the same people who like Spotify.

[Update: HTC Denial] Rumor: HTC May Drop Beats Integration On Handsets, To The Displeasure Of No One But Dr. Dre

Update: HTC has officially denied the veracity of this rumor, and stated that it has no plans to discontinue use of Beats Audio in its handsets.

Original Article: I don't like Beats. You probably don't like Beats. In fact, it's really, really easy to not like Beats. According to news site MyDrivers.com, HTC might not like Beats anymore, either.

After ditching bundled Beats earbuds in April, and then selling 50% of its stake in the headphone and, uh, sound enhancement company, industry sources (yeah, yeah, we know how that goes) are saying that HTC is going to drop Beats Audio from its handset lineup entirely.

Beats Wireless Bluetooth On-Ear Headphones Review: Big Sound, Big Style, Even Bigger Price

In the world of premium headphones, there is an emerging market for "designer" products - a niche Beats By Dre has been all too happy to fill in cooperation with Monster Cable (until now - HTC will be taking over Beats' headphone production). HTC Officially Announces the 'Rezound' For Verizon: 4.3-Inch 720p Display, 1.5GHz Dual-Core, Beats By Dre, And LTE

We've been hearing information about the HTC Rezound (codenamed Vigor) for quite a while now, and HTC just officially took the wraps off of this beasty. Like most other new HTC devices, it's packed with Beats by Dre, and, similar to the Sensation XE, has those wicked red capacitive buttons. It's quite impressive in terms of hardware spec:

  • 4.3-Inch 720p (1282*720) display
  • 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB built-in storage, 16GB microSD card
  • 8P camera, 2MP front cam
  • Beats by Dre
  • 4G LTE with simultaneous voice/data capabilities (like the Thunderbolt)
  • Android 2.3.5 with Sense 3.5

Bummed it doesn't have ICS?
