[Video] Canonical Employee Gives Us A Closer Look At Ubuntu For Android, Makes Us Want It Even More

Earlier today, Canonical announced Ubuntu for Android, an incredible new system that will put a full desktop OS on your Android-powered phone. Now, one employee has taken the time to show us just a little bit of what Ubuntu for Android is capable of, and it's nothing short of awesome. Check it out:

As if we weren't excited enough after the initial announcement, seeing it in action really makes us want to get our hands on this and give it a whirl. Anyone at Canonical ready to hook Android Police up with some beta software?

[Review And Comparison] Seidio Surface, Convert, And Active Cases For The Galaxy Nexus

It's not much of a secret that I don't actually like cases for my devices. I appreciate the added protection, but I've found that most cases either hinder the device's overall use, deduct from the natural sleekness, or are just flat-out ugly.

Then I got my hands on the Surface, Active, and Convert cases from Seidio. Wow.

Never before have I actually wanted to use a case on my phone, but these are some of the best looking cases I've ever seen. Not only do they look great, but they feel great and don't negatively affect the way I use my device.

We know, we know - you're tired of hearing about Siri and its respective knockoffs. But, we assure you, this one is different. Very different. In fact, it's beyond anything we've ever seen before.

The app is called Utter! and while it isn't yet available for download, it's already doing things that we could previously only imagine. Instead of just giving you a generic answer such as Siri and the like, it actually utilizes the apps that you already have installed. Want a add a calendar appointment? Tell Utter, and it'll take care of it. Get travel details, find out the weather, and launch applications - all child's play for Utter, and all done using native applications instead of just simple searches.

[New App] AirCalc Is An Awesome Floating Calculator For Android That Can Run In The Foreground On Top Of Any App

One of the biggest features of the Galaxy Tab series (minus the OG Tab) is TouchWiz UX and its mini-app tray. In fact, it was difficult for me to get used to the Transformer Prime after having the Galaxy Tab 10.1 because I miss those little apps so much. For the uninitiated, mini-apps in Touchwiz UX are small "portable" applications that run in an independent window on top of the foreground application.

Of all the mini-apps, the calculator is among the most useful - who really wants to navigate away from the current application to use a full screen calculator (especially on a tablet)?

Still rocking the HTC G1, the world's first Android phone? Didn't think so, but if you have one laying around somewhere, you may want to grab that thing and knock the dust off of it. Why, you ask? Because there's a "working" (I use that term loosely here) port of ICS ready to flash.

As you may imagine, it is incredibly slow and nearly unusable, but c'mon - you have to admit that it's pretty cool. Here's a video of it in action (again, I use that term loosely).

There are a few things that still aren't working in this build, like screen rotation, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

iZac Becomes The First Android-Powered Bartender – Fun, Ingenious, And Open-Source

You might remember this video, which cropped up earlier this month, showing off an Android-powered contraption that mixed drinks automatically. Well, it would appear that the device, lovingly named iZac, (after a barbot from the popular show Futurama) has made its official debut, mixing real cocktails for patrons at the Creative Sandbox in Sydney.

Right now, iZac can handle dispensing up to six liquids, and the Android interface includes an "I'm Feeling Lucky" option, which ostensibly creates a totally random concoction for those feeling bold.

While iZac already looks fantastic, it will be interesting to track its progress and future refinement, as the inventor, Nick Johnson notes several things that he'd improve in a second iteration.

Gameloft Delivers Movie Game "Immortals" Unto The Humans; The NES Would Be Proud

Gameloft, the gaming studio behind such games as Modern Combat 2, N.O.V.A. 2 HD, and Asphalt HD, has recently released a new game for all you mythology and movie fans out there. If you're familiar with Gameloft's games, though, this may be a bit different from what you've grown accustomed to.

From the movie "Immortals", you play Theseus, a-hackin' and a-slashin' through all sorts of fun Greek and Roman mythology, including, but not limited to, minotaurs, titans, and generic disposable guys in strange armor holding swords. It's a side-scroller and, on top of what I assume is 100% historical accuracy, the graphics are reminiscent of games designed during that time period.

Holy crap. The Samsung/Google event ended just a little while ago, and I have to say, I'm pretty overwhelmed by the amount of awesome that I just experienced. The Galaxy Nexus is official, as is its counterpart OS: Ice Cream Sandwich. There is no doubt that ICS is the most polished version of Android to date. It's elegant, clean, and just downright gorgeous. Let's take a look at all the new features together, shall we?
