It's Official: Samsung Captivate Froyo Update Now Available Through Kies Mini

It looks like the Captivate is the next domino to fall, much as expected: AT&T just confirmed via twitter that the Froyo update is now available for Captivate owners through Kies Mini. Similarly, that support page we stumbled upon last week before being pulled has gone back up, and it looks just like it did then.

Obviously as the update is done through Kies Mini, you'll need that to start. Once you've got Kies all ready to go, you need to do a minor amount of jiggering to get the update installed. Not quite as easy as most OTAs, but nothing too strenuous either.

Samsung Captivate To Get Froyo Update February 24th

The final pieces of the Galaxy S Froyo puzzle are finally falling into place - AT&T's Captivate, one the two remaining GS devices still stuck on Éclair, is now scheduled to get the update to Android 2.2 tomorrow (2/24)! Costco Now Selling The Atrix 4G For $119.99 With A Free Accessory Bundle On A 2-Year Contract [Internal Scans]

Even though we thought Costco would be selling the Motorola Atrix 4G for AT&T for $149.99, the mega-warehouse decided to sweeten the deal a bit and dropped the price to $119.99 on a 2-year contract (this includes customers upgrading their existing AT&T phones too).

And that's not all - according to our tipster, whose track record has so far been spotless, Costco will be throwing in a free accessory bundle consisting of a case, a car charger, and a wired earpiece. After about $15 in taxes, this deal is just as hot, if not hotter, than Amazon's, but benefits from Costco's top notch customer service and warranty.

AT&T's Motorola Atrix 4G Now On Sale - $149.99 At RadioShack And Amazon, $129.99 At Walmart

AT&T has officially started selling the Motorola Atrix 4G for $199.99 with a 2-year contract.

Additionally, true to its word, RadioShack has also started offering the Android 2.2 smartphone for $149.99. The dock will set you back a further $329.99 when bought with the phone or $479.99 when purchased separately.

Not to be outdone, Amazon has the device for $149.99. The phone and dock can be purchased as a bundle for $499.99 (after a $100 mail-in rebate and purchase of the Data Pro 2GB/4GB plan with tethering), while the dock on its own costs $499.99.

Good news, Tegra 2 users: you can now obtain a version of Adobe's famous (or perhaps infamous) Flash Player compatible with your devices. The leaked beta APK comes courtesy of XDA user rothnic, who received it "from the Malata Zpad owners."

The state of North American cellular contract plans might be something that makes Europeans shake their heads in disbelief, but when it comes to phone pricing, Americans have always had it pretty good. Hand over your soul for two years, get Phone X for free (after MIR). Well, it looks like AT&T doesn't think that's the best way to go. No, that doesn't mean cheaper tariffs; don't be silly. Instead, it means more expensive phones, of course! AT&T has just about had enough with the likes of Wirefly and Let's Talk offering their phones for free online, when they could be making $200 on them in their own retail stores.

Motorola Atrix 4G Rooted Before Release, Bootloader Confirmed To Be Signed

AT&T users, rejoice! Brief Mobile has been informed that user DesignGears, along with Getaphixx, has rooted the Motorola Atrix before its official release.

AT&T is notorious for restricting its users to only Market apps. Through rooting, however, non-Market apps can run via sideloading. These privileges also provide an easy way to free users of the bloated social-networking service MOTOBLUR and disable many other unnecessary applications.

[Review] HTC Inspire 4G: A Pretty Face Only Gets You So Far

About this time last week, I first started playing with our Inspire 4G review unit. And at first blush, I admittedly found myself enamored with this phone. Unfortunately, it was a love that started to splinter as the days went on, and the more I used it, the more I noticed just how unfinished some parts of this phone can feel. Overall, the Inspire is a good phone with the potential to be great, and I'll talk about what's holding it back (software, connectivity) further on in the review.

Don't let that statement deter you from considering purchasing it, though, because at $99 (or $60 on Amazon), the Inspire 4G is a steal of a deal if you're looking for a reasonably priced 4G smartphone.

The Atrix 4G hasn't been released yet, but, surely, its system dump just leaked online. The boot animations and the Paper Forest LWP are pretty boring and uninteresting, but the static wallpapers (meaning non-LWP images) are simply amazing.

We've mirrored them for you below, so grab the zip, unzip it to your SD card, and then open the images up using your favorite file manager, like Astro, long press the one you like, and select Set As Wallpaper.

How terribly boring were the last 2 months with regards to picking yourself up a new Android handset? We've seen hundreds of exciting announcements but practically no products to actually buy - end of December and January always seem to be those kinds of months. The device will cost you $99.99 + tax from AT&T, but on Amazon, where it just went live, it is available for $59.99 to new customers (including family plans) and $69.99 to those upgrading.
