LG has an event coming up in New York City on May 1st. That is exactly six days from today. And do you know what it's going to announce? The Optimus G Pro for the US. But if just knowing that isn't enough, pictures and full details of the device have hit the 'net today, leaving essentially nothing for LG to actually announce next week.

So, there's the phone, sporting full AT&T branding.

Dearly beloved, we are gathered together in the sight of the FCC and these witnesses to join MetroPCS and T-Mobile in the bonds of holy mergrimony. If any shareholder can show just cause why they may not be joined together, let them speak now or forever shut the hell up.

Today, MetroPCS shareholders approved the merger between the company and T-Mobile USA. As a result of the deal, Deutsche Telekom will own a 74% stake in the new company, while the former MetroPCS shareholders will own 26%.

Samsung is facing some difficulties in getting its newest flagship phone into the hands of its U.S. customers. T-Mobile and Sprint have both reported that they will need to push back retail and online availability of the device. T-Mobile will now begin selling the phone on April 29th via its website, though the company has not confirmed when it will be available in stores. Here's the carrier's full statement:

We know customers are really looking forward to getting their new Samsung Galaxy S 4 soon.

While HTC's newest flagship may have just hit the streets a few days ago, that hasn't stopped Amazon Wireless from starting to hack away at the price. The company is offering AT&T's 32GB variant of the device for $150, which is $50 off what Big Blue is asking right out of the gate. That price is good for both new contracts and upgrades, so it's a worthy deal for anyone looking to grab what could be HTC's best handset to date.

Update: Some early pre-order folks are saying their devices are supposed to arrive on the 25th. It might only be newer pre-orders that are going out on the 30th.

If you're planning to pick up Samsung's latest and greatest on AT&T's LTE network the instant it's available, start checking your email for tracking numbers on April 30th. That's when pre-orders for the Galaxy S 4 will begin going out to customers.

I've noticed something different with the HTC One: people are actually excited about it. I can't say that I've ever seen such a response to an HTC phone in recent years, so that's a good thing. This phone is hitting the scene at a crucial time for HTC, and with people calling it "the best Android phone" in existence right now (or even this year), it could be the saving grace needed to pull the company from its recent slump.

Even though HTC is now focusing on its new baby (and possible savior) the HTC One, that doesn't mean the company has completely forgotten about the last generation. AT&T's HTC One X+ has just gotten an update to v1.19.502.1. Sadly, this is still Android 4.1.1, but it does fix a few nagging issues.

The full change log is straight to the point. HTC is fixing bugs, and not much else:

  • AT&T Address Book Fixes
  • Bluetooth fixes
  • Wi-Fi fixes
  • Other minor bug fixes

One X+ owners can pull the update down manually, or wait for the OTA to show up on its own.

The day AT&T and US Cellular customers have been waiting on for some weeks is here: it's time to pre-order Samsung's Next Big Thing. For a shiny new two-hundred dollar bill, you can secure the 16GB Galaxy S4 in either white frost or black mist on either carrier. And if you're on US Cellular, you get an added bonus: the company is throwing in a free S View flip cover to seal the deal.

Ma Bell is still markedly behind Verizon when it comes to total LTE coverage in the United States, but they're catching up quickly. Today AT&T 4G LTE service has been activated for Napa and Santa Rosa-Petaluma, California, Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Kalamazoo, Missouri, Orangeburg, South Carolina, and Jackson, Tennessee. The company has also announced expanded markets in New Haven County, Connecticut, Greensboro, North Carolina, Charleston and Walterboro, South Carolina, and the San Francisco Bay area, including parts of San Rafael, Pittsburg, Antioch, Livermore, Brentwood, and Novato.

GALAXY Note II Product Image_Key Visual

For those who've been running the latest CM10.1 builds on their Galaxy Note II, a little change is rolling out in the CyanogenMod world today. Up to this point, the t0lte build has been the go-to for all versions of the LTE Note II. As of today, however, that changes – CyanogenMod has separated the AT&T and T-Mobile versions into their own builds to better handle the slight "hardware and device variations."

Thus, if you've been regularly flashing t0lte nightlies, you'll need to switch it up a bit and grab the appropriate version for your device if you're on AT&T or T-Mo.
