Hey guys, how's the ol' Optimus G Pro holding up? Pretty well? Good news! That guy is about to get even better, as AT&T is pushing the Android 4.4.2 OTA starting now. That brings about a bunch of new features, including some battery improvements, Project Svelte (which just generally makes things faster), and more.

What's changing?

You can grab the update now by heading into the settings menu and hitting About phone > Software Update > Update now.

Winner: Julian Lee, congrats!

If you haven't read our review of the LG Optimus G, you should definitely check it out - this is one powerhouse of a phone. And, courtesy of AT&T, you can win one on this very page. You can also pre-order the Optimus G directly from AT&T, for $199.99 on a new 2-year agreement, at this link.

The AT&T Optimus G is packing a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with 2GB of RAM, and I can tell you from first-hand experience that it is fast.

The Optimus G is a phone you'd have to be living under a rock not to have heard about at this point, but pricing and availability information for the US has been surprisingly scant up until now. We knew it was coming to AT&T and Sprint, but in regards to when and how much, "soon" and "some amount of money" were really all we had.

Today, on its official blog, AT&T announced that the Optimus G will be available for pre-order starting October 16 (at this link), and you'll have to cough up $199 and either start a 2-year contract or renew your existing AT&T agreement to get it at that price.

Before you ask, no, we don't know how much, and we don't know when. Yeah. Sorry. Anyway, if you've been looking forward to the first mass-market Snapdragon S4 Pro smartphone, you're in luck. Because at some point in the future (wooooooo) you'll be able to get it on AT&T or Sprint! That smartphone, of course, is the LG Optimus G. Which, if you haven't heard about it, must mean you've been living under a rock for the last month while LG has personally gone door to door making sure literally everyone has seen it.
