Update: Turns out the teasers were about an ASUS Windows 8/Android device after all, and even Bluestacks got tricked into thinking the "big transformation" teasers were about them. You can find more info about this device, called Transformer AiO, here.

Remember a few days ago when ASUS got everyone's hopes up with teaser videos that began excited rumor-churn about a possible dual-booting Android/Windows 8 tablet? Well, it turns out that the videos in question were meant to tease a new partnership ASUS has formed with BlueStacks, creators of the renowned BlueStacks App Player (which we reviewed back in March).

Holy crap. ASUS just released two new teaser videos for its event at Computex 2012, and as vague as they may be, one thing is clear: they're doing something with Android and Windows. Possibly together. Just take a look at this:

Of all the possibilities, a dual-boot Windows 8/Android Transformer sounds like the most fitting (and also the most perfect). Just the thought of that makes me giddy like a school girl.

Further backing up the dual-OS theory is another teaser, entitled "When Two Sides Unite:"

Fortunately, we only have a few more days before the official unveiling of this mythical device (or devices) - ASUS' Computex 2012 press conference is on Monday, June 4th in Taipei.

Google I/O is coming and it's time to get excited! It's like Christmas in June! It will be here in just a few short agonizing weeks - and we need to prepare. There is background information you need to know, rumors you should have in mind, and past announcements and acquisitions that need to be remembered. Google always leaves little news breadcrumbs for those that pay attention, and I pay attention. Fanatically.

This post will be part news recap, part rumor roundup, and part speculation. The last time I did this went pretty well, and now it's time for another look at what the little elves at Google HQ are working on.

In typical ASUS fashion, the Taiwanese company has released a teaser video for its upcoming showcase at CompuTex 2012 in Taipei, Taiwan. As usual, the video is about as vague as it gets, only making a brief reference to the cloud and the "next transformations," suggesting that we'll a see a "new" entry into the Transformer line.

Update: As one of the comments points out, the tags indicated that this may actually be a Windows 8 Transformer:

However, I wouldn't get my hopes up for an entirely new device - I'd be willing to wager a large sum that this will just be the official unveiling of the Transformer Pad Infinity, the big brother to the Transformer Prime that features a 1920x1200 display.

Looks like an OTA update started making its way to the ASUS Transformer Pad 300 over the weekend that brings a handful of enhancements to the device, including Face Unlock, battery usage details (finally!), and a considerable boost in performance.

What do I mean by "considerable boost in performance," exactly? To put it mildly, the TF300 had a bit of... lag when too many things were running at one time, but it suffered the worst hit when app updates were installing from the Play Store. Now, that doesn't seem to be the case. In fact, the tablet seems to be quite a bit snappier overall, which is definitely a good thing.

Hey all you OG Transformer owners - wanna unlock your tablet by looking at it? Better start hitting that 'System Updates' button, because ASUS just started pushing an OTA that will let you do just that. This update not only brings Face Unlock to the device, but a handful of other features and fixes:

  • Improves system stability
  • Improves Email App stability
  • Improves MyNet stability
  • Improves MyLibrary stability
  • Add System Bar Lock: Lock the system bar  when playing games
  • Add Email App new feature: Email download size/Thread/Out of office notification/Mail Sync schedule

The update should be rolling out to all TF101's in the U.S.

  • Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor at 1.5GHz
  • 4.3" Super AMOLED qHD display (the tablet features a 10.1" display, no word on resolution)
  • 8MP rear shooter (featuring a 5-element f/2.2 lens)
  • Stylus/Headset accessory
  • Over 14,000mAh battery power between the pad, phone, and dock
