Is there someone on Twitter you really like? Why not add them to your favorites then? There's a new feed in the Twitter beta, which appeared in the alpha just a few days ago. Just to the right of the main timeline is a new column with just the tweets from your faves.

The ability to filter accounts is not new, but the dedicated Fave People feed is. This is essentially a more straightforward version of lists.

MarkAsRead-Thumb

MarkAsRead for Gmail is a quintessential Android app. It does just one thing, and before you go hunting for an app description to figure it out, try giving its name another read. That's right, MarkAsRead for Gmail... lets you mark Gmail messages as read straight from the notification. In between the usual archive and reply buttons that Google provides out of the box, this app sneaks in that ever-so-useful (mark as) read option.

The core functionality of IFTTT is simple but powerful – if this certain thing happens, then do this other thing. You can use RSS feed updates, Facebook events, weather, and more as the 'if' part. The response is where things get interesting. There are 72 channels in IFTTT like Evernote, Gmail, Twitter, and more. As of today, Pushbullet is among them.

Assist is one of the core apps that Motorola has dropped into the Play Store, which means it can be updated as needed. It's gotten a few tweaks already, and today another update is rolling out. This time it should make the meeting mode more useful for users with more than one calendar.

The meeting mode in Assist will automatically silence the phone and auto-reply to messages (both optional) when you are in a meeting.

Last month YouTube for Google TV vanished from the Play Store like a vampire slain by Lincoln himself, quietly fading from public view, seen only by those who had previously downloaded it and already knew of its existence. But like the immortal being that it is, YouTube has risen back from the dead. Not only that, it's stronger, having now received a relatively minor update to version 1.7.5.

Google's official Android keyboard has just been updated in the Play Store without a new changelog, and you know what that means. Yes, time to go hunting. Although, the keyboard makes you painfully aware of at least one new feature when you first try to type something.

Last month Qualcomm released the SDK for its Toq smartwatch, inviting developers to create much needed apps for the device. Unsurprisingly, software hasn't exactly flooded in. Nevertheless, the Toq has just scored its largest win yet - the latest Augmented SmartWatch Pro update adds support for Qualcomm's wristwatch.

Primary features center around real-time alerts. Here are some fuzzy screens showing a Fitbit card and a weather alert.

The app also supports up to three Tasker tasks, with opening the card serving as the trigger.

For our readers across the pond, BBC iPlayer takes some of the network's shows and provides them for easy viewing on Android devices. What about the TV? The latest version of the app has that covered too. This would be a surprise, but we already spilled the beans on this release a few days ago. We knew this update was to coincide with the launch of Chromecasts in the UK on March 19th, and now it's here.

Dayframe-Thumb

Using Dayframe to turn an Android tablet into a digital photo frame may not sound like the most affordable option out there, but at this point in time, more than a few of us have a couple old Honeycomb-era Android tablets lying around that aren't good for too much else. Following the introduction of Chromecast support in version 2.0 last month, it's pretty simple to turn your TV into one as well.

Yet another Motorola app has been added to the Play Store, but it's not as glamorous this time. MotoCare will now be kept up to date on all supported devices, and it's getting a new (slightly more descriptive) name – Motorola Help.

This app contains basic how-tos, tips, and support information. There is an option to call Motorola support directly, or start a chat session. That's more than you get with most OEMs.
