Gone is the ugly wall of poorly spaced, semi-specific permissions. The replacement is a short set of simplified categories, each with crisp-looking icons and buttons that reveal a brief description when tapped. Google filtered through roughly 145 permissions and narrowed them down to a dozen groups, plus one bucket for anything that remains.

It may not have the prettiest interface (or icon), but everybody eventually turns to that huge orange traffic cone, especially for file types that simply can't play in anything else. Assist is one of the many clever features Motorola included with the Moto X. This service monitors conditions and triggers changes to your settings and preferences as needed. It's not as powerful as some third-party options, but it's build in at the system level. Today's update includes a few improvements, as well as the customary bug fixes.

Automatic is a simple $100 diagnostic sensor that plugs into the data ports on almost all modern cars. What makes it different than the other OBD sensors you can get is the way it interacts with the Automatic app, which came to Android not long ago. However, today marks the v1.0 update for that app. You could say it's "done" now.
