Over the past month or two, you may have noticed a change in our "APK Download" posts. Previously, we went through an admittedly tedious process of first hunting down the APK we wanted, and then uploading it to a selection of various mirroring services, each with their own interfaces, ad concerns, and other quirks. In fact we have switched mirroring services several times because of intrusive advertising or other issues our readers faced.

An IFTTT user has helpfully posted a recipe that takes advantage of the push notifications in the new IFTTT Android app. This particular concoction will ping you each time we post an APK file for download, which we do pretty often. The recipe is currently trending at #4 on IFTTT, about which we are extremely pleased.

Gmail 4.5 started rolling out today to Android devices (have you installed your update yet?), and immediately some of you noticed that it has definitely shuffled some things around. The bottom bar moved up top, the navigation is now on the left, and the multi-select checkboxes are gone. Don't worry, though - multi-select functionality hasn't disappeared. In fact, it's still very easy to use.

Being a huge fan of keyboard shortcuts (I have most of Gmail's keys memorized and use them exclusively for maximum productivity every day), I jumped at the opportunity to add similar functionality to AndroidPolice.com itself.

A few weeks ago, we launched a little design contest with the main goal of getting some creative juices flowing ahead of firing up a full site redesign. We wanted to see some directions we can take the new AP logo and in exchange partnered with NVIDIA to reward the winner with a brand new Tegra 3-powered Iconia A510 (see our review).

If you haven't noticed yet, AP comments are now powered by Disqus. It took a really long time to squash all integration bugs and accept some downsides of moving to a non-native comment system, but when two complicated systems and over a hundred thousand comments are involved, migration gets a little tricky (to say the least).

As a follow-up to the mother of all game roundups I posted the other day, today let's take a look at all the app roundups posted throughout this past year.

2011 was most definitely the year during which Android gaming was transformed from relatively mediocre to absolutely stunning. As an introduction for all the newcomers and a refresher for those who have been with Android for a while, here are all of the game roundups we've posted in 2011.

For the past few weeks, a very talented Android Police fan Mike Smith has been working on something special for us - our very own video intro that we can use as a pre-roll in the YouTube channel going forward. Today, I'm proud to show all of you the final product.

It's a brand new week, and the staff here at Android Police has something to be excited about - we're less than 100 tweeps away from 10,000 amazing and supportive followers! You guys lighten up our days and nights with your comments, so we decided to give some back, in the form of a quick contest.

Sony Ericsson has decided to put its manufacturing muscle behind Android while keeping a "watching brief" on the development of Microsoft's still nascent Windows Phone 7.

If you still haven't picked up one of the awesome Android shirts that we added to our apparel store this month, here is your chance at ordering them with the largest discount to date: 25% off orders over $40. Just use coupon codes CYBER2010 (US) or CADCYBER2010 (Canada), and the discount will be applied to the total value of your cart. Customers outside the US and Canada, unfortunately, are not eligible.

And The Winner Of The T-Shirt Design Contest Is… This Guy.

About a month and a half ago, we announced our biggest contest yet - your creativity expressed as an official Android Police t-shirt design in exchange for an Android phone, courtesy of Samsung.
