Lenovo's super-slim Yoga A12 is available a day ahead of schedule

The Lenovo Yoga A12 is the company's latest attempt at an Android tablet/laptop thing. It is a more toned-down version of the Yoga Book with lower specs, no Windows or Chrome OS options, and a lower price point to boot. The device was not supposed to be available until February 8, but both the Lenovo store and Amazon are allowing full purchases. Maybe because it's already the 8th on the other side of the world?

PlayStation Vue Mobile 2.0 gets a program guide, sub-profile creation, and more

PlayStation Vue is a TV streaming service that provides live shows, sports, and On Demand to subscribers. Despite the name, it is not limited to Sony's gaming consoles. There is an Android TV app for sitting back on your couch to watch your favorite shows, as well as a mobile version for on-the-go content consumption on your phone or tablet.

ZTE is apparently working on an Android Wear watch called the Quartz

With Android Wear 2.0 launching soon, I guess I shouldn't be surprised at hearing some rumblings for new watches. However, I feel justified in my bemusement by this bit here: according to VentureBeat, ZTE is supposedly making a Wear device codenamed Quartz.

Update: Honor says the 6X will get Nougat in H1 2017, March not promised

We were contacted by Honor today in regard to this post. Honor's claim is that the March date is in reference to the review device we received for testing. March is not being promised as the timeline for the EMUI 5 / Android 7.0 update for owners of the Honor 6X. Instead, Honor defers to their original statement that it will receive the update in the first half of 2017.

Google releases February security bulletin, OTA and system images available for Google devices

It's that time of month again where Google releases security fixes for Android. The Android Security Bulletin for February 2017 has just been posted, addressing 35 critical bugs - most of which affect Nexus and Pixel devices. The most severe issue that the February patch level fixes could enable remote code execution when processing media files.

Snap recognizes it should focus on Snapchat Android app development to keep its users and growth

Snap Inc., the official name of the company behind Snapchat, filed for IPO (Initial Public Offering) yesterday and is planning to be a publicly traded company in March. In its official filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission, Snap shed a lot of light on its goal as a company and how it operates, and among the pages and pages of financial details and jargon that I don't understand, it mentioned Snapchat's risk factors and potential growth hurdles, both of which do have a few instances of "Android" in them.

The main takeaway from the sections talking about Android is that Snap is cognizant of its app's poor performance on our beloved OS.
