The Muku Shuttr is a simple piece of hardware that reached its Kickstarter funding goal in under a week, ending its campaign with almost ten times its original goal. It appeared an audience was ready and waiting for a mobile camera remote shutter.

I'm generally fascinated by the variety of mobile photography accessories pouring out of Kickstarter lately (I eagerly backed the Lumu light meter and am awaiting my unit now), and naturally wanted to give Shuttr a try.

About a week ago, Google released a fairly major update to the Play Store with version 4.3.10. The update brought combined update notifications, the new Recently updated section of My apps, and a bunch of other tweaks. Today, a minor update with version 4.3.11 is rolling out. As always, you can download and install it manually using one of the links below.

The great Nexus 7 ordeal of 2013 is now over after Qualcomm apparently agreed to the release of the factory image and all necessary drivers, only a day after lots of hubbub had been made about this touchy and unpleasant situation. Awesome, so now we have access to the factory image, meaning we can restore the tablet back to stock no matter what happens to the software on it.

Say, you had a bad flash and are now boot-looping.

Last week, we heard from Dan Morrill (via Reddit) that "top men" were working on the "sleep of death" issue that caused 4.3 devices to become unresponsive if they fell asleep while streaming from Netflix through the Chromecast.

Tonight, though, it looks like the issue is already fixed with Netflix's update to version 2.4.1. We've been testing the update since it popped up earlier this evening, and haven't experienced a lockup yet.

Galaxy-NX-Camera-640x353

Another Android device is on the way to release, and that means it's time for the kernel source to be posted online. Samsung has been so kind as to drop the code for two variants of the Galaxy NX camera on us – the standard international, and a version for South East Asia.

The Jelly Bean-based packages are a hefty 1.1GB for each device, and Samsung's servers are pretty sluggish. Any developers that want to dig around in the code from this bizarre product should get that download started now.

Google is rolling out an update to the Android Play Store with version 4.3.10. The new update follows version 4.2.9 which was discovered on July 25th, only a week and a half ago, and brought several very minor changes. Unlike the previous update, 4.3.10 is more significant in user-facing features (yay, new stuff!).

What's New?

There's a new Ron in town, and it's me. Ron's not the only one capable of doing teardowns, and we've already scheduled a duel to sort it out once and for all (whoever lives gets to continue the teardown tradition at AP).
