When you stop and think about it, an app that could capture what is happening on your phone's screen in high quality mp4 format would be pretty useful. With such an app you could show off a neat new live wallpaper, make an easy to follow tutorial, or do a solid video review of an app - all without having to use a dedicated camera. Wouldn't it be sweet if such a thing existed?

Well, luckily for us, that exact app was released yesterday by Media Solutions. Screen Cast & Screen Recorder (and here's the free version) is the unfortunate name of a new video capture app for Android devices that makes showing off all that mobile power stuffed in your pocket that much easier.

Exent's GameTanium Mobile Is The First Android Gaming Subscription Service

Since I upgraded my antiquated HTC Magic to the shiny (and slim) Samsung Galaxy S2 I have spent most of my time downloading new games, a significant fraction of which are the so-called "casual games". These games usually cost between $0.99 and $2.99 and are of the Farm Frenzy, Angry Birds and Plants vs. Zombies variety. I tend to download a few, play them non-stop for about a week and then let them languish inside an aptly named "Old Games" folder. If you are like me, then have a look at the newly launched all-you-can-eat mobile gaming subscription service GameTanium Mobile from Exent.

[Updated: Download Link] New Android Market Is Coming To Phones, Brings Books And Movies Along With It

Today Google announced a new version of the Android Market via its Android Developers Blog, and it aims to ease the pain of navigating the current market. The layout is entirely different, as it's designed to highlight top apps and games and improve the user experience. The update will also bring the addition of Books and Movies to US handsets, and other "select countries" soon after.

Google Checkout Will Be Unavailable Today From 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM PT, So You Won't Be Able To Purchase Any Apps

We just received an email from Android Market Support letting us know that Google Checkout will be down for scheduled maintenance from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM PDT today. During this outage, you will still be able to see paid apps in the Market, but you won't be able to buy anything. So... if you were planning on dropping hundreds of dollars in the Market during the aforementioned hours today, you should probably get started a bit early... or wait until later. Your call.

With the official app you can order from the full Pizza Hut menu on the go, take advantage of special coupons and deals, and keep a quick list of all of your favorites for those I-need-to-get-pizza-right-now moments. Unfortunately, this app is US only as of right now, so all non-US residents are going to have to stick with the old-school way of ordering pizza: calling.

[New Game] Bang Bang Racing THD Hits The Android Market In All Its Tegra 2 Glory

As promised, Playbox today brought the console racing experience to Tegra 2 devices with the release of Bang Bang Racing THD. This top-down racer, previously available on XBOX 360 and Playstation 3, is one of the soon to be numerous games optimized for multicore phones and tablets. With the added device power comes a level of physics that is yet unknown in mobile gaming.

Let's just hope all that new hotness is worth the relatively high cost. At $7.99 for an introductory price (i.e. the price is going even higher soon) this isn't the cheapest game on the Market, but judging from the gameplay videos it may just earn the price tag.

Android Market Extends App Purchases To 99 More Countries

One of the Android Market's biggest downsides has always been the inability to buy/sell apps in certain areas of the world. It looks like Google has been hard at work tackling this issue, though, as the reach of Android app purchases is extending to 99 more countries, for a total of 131.

This is probably some of the biggest Market-related news to come out of I/O this year, especially for citizens of the affected countries. Gone will be the days of users wishing they could get that paid-only app or developers having to set up a dedicated PayPal account and website just to make some revenue off of their hard work.

New Web Android Market Is Live, Adds Several New Features

If you haven't been to the web version of the Android Market today, I suggest you go take a look. Google has thrown in a few new features, like trending apps and top grossing apps from the past 30 days. Not only that, but the navigation is much more intuitive, as the top paid and top free apps have been revamped, along with the addition of top games in the sidebar. The new market also includes suggestions based on what others have installed and viewed, like we first saw yesterday.

Other new additions include an Editors' Choice column, which highlights some of the best apps and games in the market, with personalized recommendations coming sometime later this year.

[I/O 2011] Google TV Will Be Updated To Honeycomb (3.1), Android Market In Tow

A ton of Android news has already come out of Google I/O, but this time Google TV is thrown into the mix. GTV is set to see an OS update to Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) which means two things: developers will be able to create apps that will run on Honeycomb tablets and Google TV using the same SDK, and the Android Market will finally be a part of Google TV. Unfortunately, Google TV will not receive the Market update before the Honeycomb update, as they will both be released as one, OTA update.

While no exact date is available, the update is scheduled to be released sometime this summer.

RIM Demonstrates Android Apps Running On Blackberry Playbook

This morning we told you about RIM's plan to bring Blackberry Enterprise Solution to Android and iOS, with a brief mention of Android apps running on the Playbook. No sooner than we posted the aforementioned article did we find out that RIM had demonstrated just that at Blackberry World Conference. Take a look at the video:

Each Android app will run in its own virtual machine, but will seamlessly integrate into the Blackberry ecosystem. The Playbook doesn't have access to the Android Market, either - all compatible Android Apps will be available through the Blackberry App World. This does mean a bit more headache for developers, though, as they will now have to submit their apps not only to Google for the Android Market, but also to RIM to be accepted into App World.
