Since there's no shortage of good, name-brand cases for the Nexus 7, it's generally not a bad idea to be wary of the cheapies. But after getting a heads up from Bob Severns (the guy who presses the buttons on our podcast), I decided to give a pair of $4 Nanum cases a go. Having never heard of "Nanum" before, I was skeptical of how good this extremely affordable duo would be. But much to my surprise, both of these cases are pretty great.

I ordered both the Multi-Angle Stand case and Ultra Slim Fit case, and while there are a few different colors available, I decided to get both in white.

In January, we saw Motorola's Droid Razr HD drop to just a penny on Amazon for customers looking to upgrade their old devices. Sadly, the deal didn't extend to new customers (though at $19.99, not much complaining could be done).

If you were hoping to hop onto the big red network with the Razr HD for a more enticing price, Amazon's got your deal – the phone is now just a penny for new customers (and additional lines). Upgrades on the other hand will cost customers $89.99, strangely enough.

Though the Razr HD launched last fall, its specs still hold up against the competition.

When Android first came out, there were a lot of concerns about an open source OS. One of the biggest ones was, what if a company takes Android, strips everything Google out of it, and builds an entirely new platform on top of it? Well, Amazon seems dead set on making sure we know what that's like. The company has already built its own Appstore, content delivery services, and closed hardware on top of Google's baby. Now it's taking aim at Mountain View's money maker: ads.

The new mobile ads API will allow developers to easily embed advertisements in their apps.

Attention, kind neighbours to the north: the Amazon Mobile app now works with the Amazon.ca website. The latest update doesn't add any extra features, but Canadians can browse their own store, the US store, and stores from the UK, Germany, France, Italy, China and Japan. For Americans (and Americans only) Amazon is also offering a "Subscribe and Save" promotion: subscribe to regular monthly deliveries of five items or more and you'll save fifteen percent on the total cost. This deal isn't exclusive to the app - check it out here from your browser.

Other additions to the app include bug fixes and performance improvements.

Amazon isn't exactly impartial when it comes to tablets... you may have heard about this little thing called the Kindle Fire. But they aren't ones to let competition get in the way of a little profit, which is why the latest update to their storefront app includes compatibility with a plethora of new Android tablets, including the coveted Nexus 10. Previously it was limited to Android 4.1 tablets with very specific resolutions. The free app is available on the Play Store.

Resolution support has been bumped up to 2560x1600, which includes the Nexus 10 and probably a few more tablets in the first half of 2013.

Want An HTC One VX for V-Day, for practically nothing? Then head to AT&T's website or Amazon, depending upon which color you prefer. Both have the device on sale for $.01 with a new or extended contract, but AT&T has the red version, while Amazon has the white. The regular subsidized price from both retailers for the phone is $49.99. I'd go with the white ( it looks a little more snazzy) but there's no accounting for taste. It's the cheapest we've seen this model, and both phones come with free shipping.

If you need a memory refresh, the One VX is an updated version of the original One S, with a dual-core 1.2Ghz Snapdragon processor, 4.5-inch 960x540 LCD screen,a 5MP camera, Ice Cream Sandwich (with 4.1 Jelly bean promised), and 8GB of storage.

The scene: a board room. Ominous and shrouded in mystery, all that can be seen is a long, black glass desk and on either side, twelve featureless chairs. In each sits a grumpy old person. The rest of the chamber is a dark, empty void. Out of the abyss a lone man appears, approaching the head of the table. He's adorned in blue jeans, a white dress shirt and a dark blazer. The brightest light in the room is the reflection on his head.

"Ladies and gentlemen," he says. "As you are no doubt aware, our earnings for last quarter were less than optimal.

We've only got about a month left before Ouya units start landing in the hands of backers and a few months before the full-blown retail launch. A  retail launch that we now learn will include GameStop, Best Buy, Target, Amazon, and an undisclosed number of other sellers. Yes, including brick-and-mortar stores. Things are starting to look pretty good for the little console that could.

Speaking in an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Ouya's CEO released a few extra details, including the price: $100 for the console, which we knew. However, controllers will also be available for $50. Note the distinct lack of the word "extra" before "controllers." You see, the touchpad-enabled handheld can be adapted for use on other devices.

Blockbuster, the former golden child of movie rentals, is feeling left out lately. No one is paying attention to its online offerings, no doubt partially because it's been broken into a thousand pieces. However, today the company launched a new, central service for renting movies online with just one app for all devices: Blockbuster On Demand.

When we say "rent", we do mean that. There is no subscription option that we see yet, and every movie costs a few bucks to check out for a 24-hour period. This firmly pits it against the Play Store and Amazon Instant Video.
