Back in 2012, Amazon launched a service called 'Kindle FreeTime Unlimited.' For $4.99 per child ($2.99 for Prime members) or $9.99 for a family (max four children, $6.99 for Prime members), FreeTime gives kids access to a massive library of age-appropriate TV shows, movies, books, and apps.
Now Amazon appears to be dropping the requirement for a Kindle device, as the app has now appeared on the Play Store. Read More
The guys at Droid Life spotted a pretty great deal today in the form of the G4 Plus @ $200 over on B&H. While we were checking it out, we also noticed that it's the same price over at Amazon. Both B&H and Amazon might be claiming that this is a $100 off, but if you look at price histories on Amazon and most other retailers, it's closer to a $60 savings. Nonetheless, that's almost a quarter off, making it a pretty nice price for the phone. And, by $20, the lowest price we've ever seen for it. Read More
I've seen that there are two general camps when it comes to phones these days: those who want something big, and those who don't. For the latter, Sony has become a bit of a savior by continuing to make decent phones in a small form-factor. If you're part of that camp and you've been waiting for a deal on a recent Sony phone, that time has arrived. B&H and Amazon have the Xperia X for $250. That'll get you a nice 5" display and decent specs for a reasonable price. Read More
It's not uncommon for BLU to discount its phones for a day or two right after their releases, and the new R1 Plus's launch is proving to be no different. Following its unveiling yesterday, the Plus is now available from Amazon at a pretty substantial $50 discount. If you're in the market for a long-lasting phablet and don't need the latest specs and software, this may be worth taking a look at. Read More
Amazon's Appstore for Android has always been at a disadvantage compared to the Play Store. It isn't included on devices other than its own Fire tablets, and the Play Store has a lot more content. Amazon has tried to entice users to get apps from the Appstore with various promotions and free apps. Back in 2015, Amazon launched the Actually Free program, which offered paid apps and games at no cost. Today, Amazon has announced it's discontinuing Underground Actually Free. Read More
Oh, BLU. You make good phones for the money, but you've shown you just don't care about software time and time again. The brand new R1 Plus features some decent hardware, like 3GB of RAM and a 4000mAh battery, for $159.99... but it has Android 6.0 Marshmallow onboard. It's 2017, guys. Read More
Bose's wired QuietComfort 25 (no Bluetooth) is one of the most loved and well-reviewed noise cancellation over-ear headphones of the last few years. I don't have a pair, but I did review the QC 35, which is its more expensive wireless sister, and I came away impressed by its portability, superb comfort, excellent noise cancelation, and balanced sound profile. The QC 25 looks and feels just the same as the QC 35, but requires a wired connection to your device.
Normally, these headphones cost $299 and the cheapest we've ever seen them at is $269: when you have a product this popular, you can ride the high MSRP price for years and never worry about dropping demand. Read More
Amazon is definitely one of the lead players when it comes to voice assistants. The company's newest Echo speaker, the Echo Look, is... different. Instead of your usual speaker with a voice assistant, the Echo Look is specifically designed for taking pictures of your outfit. No, this isn't April Fools. Read More
Amazon has been selling Prime subscriptions for years, but Amazon has to, like, do stuff for you when you're a Prime member. Wouldn't it be nice if Amazon could sell subscriptions for other companies and get a piece of the action? Well, that's the new "Subscribe with Amazon" in a nutshell. It's a marketplace where Dropbox, The New Yorker, Sling TV, and many other entities are now selling monthly subscriptions. Read More
Back in February, Sony announced a minor refresh of 2016's Xperia XZ, called the Xperia XZs. It showed up for sale on Amazon earlier this month for a whopping $700, but now the price has gone down a bit. Now you can buy it for $40.59 off the introductory price. Read More
