Back in September of last year, Google chairman Eric Schmidt told us that Android had reached 1.3 million daily activations every day. Today, he tells us that number is up to 1.5 million, which is actually not that staggering of an increase. Andy Rubin said the number was 900,000 per day in June of 2012, so the increase from there to September was much, much faster than the increase from September to now. Still, it's an impressive number on its own. Oh and the total number of devices activated will cross one billion in "six to nine months." Not bad.

And what's the secret to all that success?

Update:  Looks like Woodside won't be the only person of interest at D11. Chrome – and now Android – lead Sundar Pichai will also be joining the conference. He'll definitely be one to watch.

Historically, AllThingsD's annual "executive conference" – simply called D – has yielded some interesting info from the likes of Andy Rubin, Eric Schmidt, and more. Thus, it's an an event that we all look forward to, just to see what sort of answers the parties relevant to our interests produce.

While the upcoming D conference, D11, may already be sold out, AllThingsD published a not-yet-complete roster of speakers earlier today.

Update 3/18/13: AllThingsD dismissed the now-deleted claim by HTC's Twitter account that the One would not be coming to Big Red as bogus and reiterated that it is, indeed, in the works. As originally reported (see below), it's scheduled to arrive months after other U.S. carriers.

According to AllThingsD, America's biggest and reddest carrier will be getting HTC's One phone - but not for a while. Yep, Verizon has signed on as a distributor of the handset, but it won't be available for "a month or two" after the three other major wireless providers in the US have it.

When Hurricane Sandy pummeled the eastern seaboard late last month, no tech event was spared - including AllThingsD's Dive Into Mobile conference.

If you're not familiar with this particular technological get-together, you probably should be. Dive Into Mobile is where the big guys in mobile tech sit down and talk shop with Walt Mossberg and friends, and the show is particularly famous (or infamous, as hindsight may have it) to Android fans as the venue in which Android 3.0 Honeycomb and the Motorola XOOM were unveiled.

Now, the event has been rescheduled - to April 15th. Andy Rubin is still on the guest list, and the number of confirmed speakers is expected to grow as schedules are cleared and solidified over the coming months.
