The creators of Sporos (which found a place in our top seven games list from February) today released their latest creation – Alien Hive. The game is based on the familiar "match three" dynamic, but don't be fooled – Alien Hive isn't just another Bejeweled clone. Hive adds several interesting gameplay elements that put a new twist on the genre, keeping it challenging and entertaining. Best of all, the game can be played at your own pace – there's no pressure to be super speedy about swapping tiles.

If you couldn't tell from the video, the general objective in the game is to slide various seeds and eggs around to evolve alien life forms into more and more advanced beings without running out of energy, using powerups like blasters or worm holes to help along the way and eliminating pesky robots that will grab hold of your developing aliens.

Alien: Colonial Marines is getting positively face-hugged in the reviews, and Alien Vs Predator: Evolution appears to be weeks or months away. So why not dig into gaming's past for a bit of unofficial space marine action? 1991 Amiga shooter Alien Breed has been re-released on Android in all its top-down, pixelated glory, for the not low at all price of $4.99.

Alien Breed is a tongue-in-cheek tribute to James Cameron's Aliens. You move through each level exterminating aliens like seven-foot cockroaches, collecting money and ammunition. You then descend to the next level down, upgrading or buying new weapons, et cetera.

You seen one top-scrolling space shooter, you've seen 'em all, am I right? No, as a matter of fact, I am not. Voxel Invaders is here to prove that. Take a look at the trailer below and you see that the game starts off simple enough. Some nice, 3D-ish graphics adorn an otherwise banal battleground. Or so it seems. Until around ten seconds into the video, when the world shifts and we see things from a whole new perspective.

It's not just a plane change here, either. Voxel Invaders incorporates elements from a variety of different retro and modern game styles for an elaborate experience.

If you always dreamed of reliving Kane's experience in Ridley Scott's 1979 sci-fi horror flick Alien, now's your chance. Chestburster uses a custom t-shirt and augmented reality to bring your own baby alien to life at the expense of your chest, minus the blood, guts, pain, and, you know, dying. Yes, it is as awesome as it sounds.

Badass, no? The companion app just landed in the Play Store for free today (you can't see the goods without the app), but the shirt will set you back $30. A small price to pay for your own alien chest baby. <3

Update: I didn't realize it initially, but you can also grab the image from here and put it basically anywhere you want.

UDS, the company that brought us Capta (which we loved) and now working on Vavo, has a limited quantity of pads made of what I called "magic alien goo" - a key ingredient used in its products. It's sort of a weird material made in part with polyurethane (PU), which is both sticky and not sticky at the same time - but in exactly the right ways.

I have been playing with a PU pad for the last month or so, and it's now become my trusty gym companion. Heck, I can bring it anywhere, slap it on pretty much any surface, and voila - an instant phone holder.

Introduction

Half Breed, by iNoko Studios, is an alien-themed shooter that just landed on the Android Market today. As the title indicates, you play the role of a mysterious being who wakes up to find that he is now half-man and half-alien. If that wasn't enough, this creature has a whole arsenal of crazy powers, and is bent on seeking revenge against the people who made him this way.

Gameplay

There are two different game modes in Half Breed, story and multiplayer. Unfortunately, multiplayer isn't true online gameplay, as the only way to take advantage of it is to play with a friend over a Wi-Fi connection.
