Gameloft Unveils The Adventures Of Tintin HD For Android, Bringing Classic Mystery Action To Your Mobile Device

The Adventures of Tintin is certainly one of the most enduring comic book series, making its debut in 1929, and finally finding its way to the silver screen in 2011. Gameloft has expanded Tintin's domain recently, by releasing The Adventures of Tintin into the Android Market, bringing the wunderkind's sleuthing prowess and action-infused storyline to the palm of your hand.

The game looks to be a fun interpretation of the film adventure, tying in the characters we love from the original comics and a familiar storyline that's been adapted for the big screen.

It looks like Gameloft has done it again, cooking up an awesome new game for Android. The makers of such hits as BackStab, and the N.O.V.A. series, released today the first official launch trailer for their new game - Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation.

The Modern Combat series is one of the "most acclaimed FPS games on Android," bringing polished, action-packed, first person gameplay to the palm of your hand. The series aims to immerse the player in a "modern war experience," taking you to detailed, polished environments, and providing you with plenty of challenges, along with enough weapons to get the job done effectively.

[New Game] Wind-Up Knight Brings Intense Gameplay And Quirky Graphics To Your Android Device

Wind-Up Knight is a high-end 3D action game that will destroy you. That is the first sentence of the Market listing for the new game from development team Robot Invader. Pretty big words to live up to, don't you think? Whether it will actually destroy me or not will have to be seen, but, after watching the gameplay trailer, I can safely say that it looks awesome.

Impressive, no? It has more to offer than smooth side-scrolling graphics and a quirky-cute aesthetic appeal, too. According to the dev, it brings 50 soul-crushing levels (perhaps that's the method it uses to destroy you), along with crazy platforming action, four different worlds, power-ups, a "secret card" in every level, and an original soundtrack.

Gun Strike (Beta) Makes Shooting Down Baddies In Your Spare Time Lighthearted And Fun

Looking to expand the selection of first person shooter games available for Android, Paladin Entertainment Co. Ltd. has brought us Gun Strike. The game may not fully reflect one's expectations of a typical FPS, however. Gun Strike features cutesy, stylized baddies, and the player stays stationary throughout most of the game, shooting at enemies as they run, roll, or pop into and across the environment, using a wide variety of weapons, from hand guns to assault rifles to grenades.

While Gun Strike's visual elements are clearly stylized and aim for a sort of cartoonish simplicity, the characters are animated smoothly and accurately, and there are subtle visual touches that make the game feel quite polished and thoughtful.

Making their first entry into the Android Market, the developers at Enfeel Inc. may have struck gold with Birzzle, a fast-paced puzzle game that offers familiar "match three," Bejeweled-style gameplay with a refreshing twist.

While the game ostensibly relies on the tried-and-true premise of matching objects in a grid formation, Birzzle offers something a bit new - the player can drag and drop birds to create groups, but can only grab hold of those birds who are not blocked by others. This speeds up the gameplay considerably, and, along with a multitude of special blocks, keeps the game interesting and fun.

[First Look] GameLoft Releases A 'Cowboys & Aliens' Game To The Android Market - Let's Hope It Was Better Than The Movie

On paper, it seemed like a winning formula: take a bunch of cowboys, pit them against invading aliens, and see who comes out of it alive. Hot on the heels of a major theatrical release, GameLoft is releasing a Cowboys & Aliens game to the Market.

However, instead of the star-studded film (which, if you figure the $89 million earnings and $160 budget, was a huge flop), this game chooses to focus on the comic they used as source material.

Gameloft seems to have taken the title of "tie-in" developer, as they have experience releasing apps featuring properties like Shrek, Assassin's Creed, Fast 5, Avatar, and Spider-Man.

Zorro: Shadow of Vengeance is a side-scrolling adventure in which you play as an anime-styled version of the classic Mexican hero, Zorro. Zorro's design is one part Japan and one part Assassin's Creed; Antonia Banderas he's not. Using an array of touch controls, you'll jump, whip, sword-fight and roll through a number of levels as you look to bring a corrupt army captain to justice.

[New Game Review] Glu's Eternity Warriors: They Should Have Just Called It 'Sword Bros'

While developer Glu Mobile has had a lot of success with its gun-wielding, bravado-toting title, Gun Bros, it seems to be unsatisfied with the mark left on the genre. I mean, why else would they release Eternity Warriors this week?

The Disappointment

In a sentence, Eternity Warriors is Gun Bros with swords. I wish I was kidding.

Usually, I might give this a pass, but Glu Mobile just released a game called Star Blitz which is essentially Gun Bros in space. I'm all for getting more mileage out of work (I am a freelancer, after all) but at this point, it's become a bit insulting.

Star Blitz is a game by Glu Mobile that plays an awful lot like their previous title, Gun Bros. In essence, one on-screen joystick controls the steering of your ship while the other controls a laser. Like Gun Bros, you are faced with a number of waves of enemies, who upon defeat will drop experience and money.

You use this money to customize your ship and repeat the cycle.

Android seems to have become infested with games that have a large amount of things in common: they all pay homage to an extremely-successful Xbox game, and have won the hearts of players the world around.

Spirit plays a lot like Hyperlight, a game I've previously reviewed. The graphics are extremely similar in that they pay homage to Geometry Wars, and both take place on a flat, 2D plane. Spirit, however, has different mechanics that set it apart: instead of relying on twitchy tilt controls, your faster-than-light spacecraft is steered by your finger.

Lacking an on-screen joystick, I can only describe Spirit's controls as "relative." They don't require any specific positioning - instead, drawing a circle anywhere will make your ship fly in that pattern, even if it's nowhere near where your ship actually is.
