HTC One A9 Review: Pretty, Pretty, Pretty Good (Pretty Good)

At a wedding reception this past Saturday, I finally had a chance to put the HTC One A9 side-by-side with an iPhone 6. “It looks just like an iPhone. Even the little camera bump looks similar,” remarked the person whose iDevice I had temporarily pilfered for this little visual experiment.

I was forced to agree. Flip them over, of course, and the story changes. HTC’s phone, with its elongated speaker grille, HTC logo, and Samsung-pill-style capacitive home key and fingerprint scanner is noticeably distinguishable from any iPhone - and really no different from any other white Android phone in that regard.

HTC has officially announced the One A9 today, with a 5" Super AMOLED 1080p display with Gorilla Glass 4, a fingerprint scanner, microSD slot, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow with a revised version of sense. This will make the A9 the first non-Nexus device to launch with the latest version of the Android OS. Fasten Your Seatbelts - Samsung To Release 2GHz Dual-Core Handset By Next Year

Get ready to drool: a "high-ranking" Samsung executive recently told the Maeli Business Newspaper that Sammy is working on a smartphone that can lay claim to "performance levels matching desktop PCs" - in fact, the company is said to have a 2GHz dual-core handset in the offing. Mind you, that's not some multiplication game; rather, it's an admirable 2GHz on each core!

Better yet, the aforementioned company official also let slip that this smartphone will be released "by next year." Oh, and Samsung is reportedly considering selling the CPU units to other smartphone manufacturers, meaning that if all goes well, you could see the chip in, say, an HTC handset.

Archos Gen 9 Tablet Details: Coming In June, Packing A 1.6GHz Dual-Core CPU And Honeycomb In Tow

Historically (and generally speaking), Archos' tablet offerings have failed to impress. That may all be about to change, though: the company has unofficially revealed some details about their upcoming Gen 9 tablet, and at least on paper, it looks like quite a doozy.

The Gen 9 will be powered by a 1.6GHz ARM A9 CPU, which is the same underlying processor used in the Apple A5 (iPad 2) CPU, as well as Nvidia's Tegra 2 and upcoming Kal-El CPUs, among others. Apparently the tablet will also come packing up to a 250 GB HD - an awful lot of storage.

Samsung Orion Cortex A9 Processor Previewed On Video, Still No Arrival In Sight

The first time we heard about Samsung's Orion chipset was back in September. Two months later, we're getting our first tantalizing glimpse at what will soon be packed into your favourite TouchWiz-running gadgets. ARMdevices' inimitable Charbax got a look at Samsung's demo boards at the ARM Techcon conference, and came away with some impressive performance details. While we knew most of these specs already from the original Samsung announcement, it's always nice to see it in the flesh, so to speak.

The demo board was shown running stock Froyo fairly smoothly, and was also outputting high definition video content with ease.
