First Batch Of CyanogenMod 7.2 (Stable) Builds Now Available For A Ton Of Devices

Those of you who have been waiting for a stable Android 2.3.7 build for your device from CyanogenMod are in luck - the first stable CyanogenMod 7.2 builds have just been released for an absolute slew of devices. For those who don't feel like decoding all the code-names for themselves, here's a handy list of supported devices (at the time of writing – more devices are being added):

Arcee notes in a post to the CyanogenMod blog that 7.2 brings a few backported ICS features and a few important bug fixes to a list of devices which includes 20 more than the list of 7.1 recipients.

First CyanogenMod 7.2 Release Candidate "More Than Ready For Everybody To Enjoy"

In a post to the official CyanogenMod blog today, arcee announced that the first CM7.2 release candidate, based on Android 2.3.7, is  ready to go for 70 devices. The entry also notes that 7.2 brings with it a few backported features and fixes from Android Ice Cream Sandwich, as well as a few completely new features. Those interested can see a complete change log here.

Since 7.2 is still in its release candidate stage, arcee notes that users are welcomed to report any bugs they encounter while running RC1:

As usual, you can submit bug reports on these builds: if you find anything broken in your device while running CM7.2-RC1, (as downloaded from our mirrors or ROM Manager!

CyanogenMod 7.2 RC1 Changelog Goes Live, New Device Support, Various Bugfixes, Improvements, And A Few ICS Backports Coming Soon?

Though it has yet to be officially acknowledged on the CyanogenMod blog (and Cyanogen himself posted an official progress update on CM9 just a few days ago), it appears that CM7.2 Release Candidate (RC) 1 is nearly here - an official changelog has been posted to the CM source review.

Nothing especially groundbreaking, though there are plenty of nice features in there - likely enough so to hold those more cautious users who are uncomfortable flashing kanged CM9 builds in lieu of the real thing.

Dolphin HD v7.2 Update Now In The Market, Brings Double-Tap Back To Exit, Encrypted Backups, Privacy-Friendly Webzine Opt-In, And More

Dolphin HD, one of the most popular Android browsers, was updated in the Market today to version 7.2. The updated app contains a toggle to enable the Webzine functionality, which following the privacy fiasco is now opt-in rather than opt-out.

UI-wise, the Exit popup can now be turned off and replaced with a simple back button double-tap, which finally lets you easily exit the browser by interacting with just a single button. As before, you can also hold the back button to exit at any point, which is probably my favorite featured compared to the stock browser.

I'm glad to report that v7.2 fixes another privacy issue that was spotted by one of our readers (thanks, TOMMMMMM) - on-demand backups that were previously written to SD in a completely unencrypted form wide open to any malicious app are now password-protected.
