Update Wednesday held at least one more treat this week - a bump to Google Play Movies & TV, bringing the app up to version 3.2.25. Google hasn't published an official change log yet, but so far the only user-facing change we've found is the presence of applicable wishlist content (from your Play Store wishlist) inside the app, both on the "Watch Now" screen, and in the slide-out navigation bar.

Twitter for Android has been updated to 3.2, and brings a bevy of changes, the most important being much-needed push notifications for retweets, favorites, and new followers.

The icons at the top of the app have also been changed up, and are slightly larger (the Home icon actually looks a bit different), along with other minor UI changes. The Discover tab has been completely revamped according to the changelog, as well, which you can see below:

What's in this version:

  1. Updated design and improved relevance of Discover stories
  2. Activity in Discover tab shows who your connections follow, updates to their lists, and which Tweets they retweet and favorite
  3. Spelling suggestions and related searches in search results
  4. Username autocomplete in search
  5. New push notifications for when your Tweets have been retweeted, favorited, or when you have new followers
  6. New languages: Traditional Chinese, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, Polish, Hungarian, Thai

Get it on the Play Store now.

A new tablet is coming to the Sprint network next month, though it's definitely on the budget-minded side of things. The ZTE Optik will be available to Sprint customers starting February 5th through Sprint's online store, with a brick and mortar appearance to follow on March 11th. Here's a quick breakdown on the need-to-know specs for the Optik:

  • 1.2GHz dual-core processor (we'd expect TI OMAP 4430, but that's a guess - yours is as good as ours)
  • 7" display (resolution unknown - we're predicting 1280x800)
  • 1 GB RAM / 16GB internal storage
  • MicroSD card slot
  • 5MP rear / 2MP front camera
  • Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 3G connectivity
  • 4000mAh battery
  • Android 3.2 Honeycomb
  • $99 w/ 2 year agreement, $349 off-contract

Check it out, below:

The Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is the best Android tablet I have ever used - hands down. No contest, nothing else comes even close. I've used the Tab 10.1, the Toshiba Thrive, the Motorola XOOM, the ASUS Transformer, the HTC Flyer, the Acer Iconia A500, and the original Galaxy Tab. The Tab 10.1 is probably the next best thing (with TouchWiz UX), but it seems downright slow next to the Tab 7.0 Plus at times.

A page from a catalog of the popular UK mobile retailer Carphone Warehouse was recently leaked, and it clearly states the Motorola XOOM 2 will be available in the UK in time for Christmas.

The catalog was intended for the Irish market, and thus the price has been listed in Euros as €399. Generally, prices in Euros and GBP for consumer electronics aren't reflective of exchange rates when attempting to determine a comparable price in the US - we're fairly certain the XOOM 2 will retail for $400 here in the US of A.

After your (possibly over-) enthusiastic response (I kid, I kid; we appreciate your high spirits) to our last giveaway, we decided it would only be appropriate to allow two more readers the chance to win an ASUS Eee Pad Slider. That's right: NVIDIA, in its seemingly infinite awesomeness, has once again been generous enough to sponsor a giveaway of not one, but two 16GB white ASUS Eee Pad Sliders, both powered by a 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor and fueled by a wide variety of games from the Tegra Zone.

Can you believe we and NVIDIA have already conducted this many giveaways? It seems like just yesterday we were giving away the Motorola XOOM, and...

Never mind; let's cut to the chase: this time around NVIDIA has been generous enough to sponsor a giveaway of not one, but two white 16GB ASUS Eee Pad Sliders powered by the Tegra 2 processor and fueled by a wide range of available games from the Tegra Zone.

Well, it's only taken about five months, but Verizon XOOM owners will finally be able to make use of that lovely microSD slot on the side of their tablet. Of course, the OTA update in question does a fair bit more than allow you to up your XOOM's already robust storage. Take a look at this list:

changes

While Verizon (they're the ones publishing the update) doesn't explicitly state that the update, dubbed HTJ85 (has a nice ring to it, right?), brings Android 3.2 to the XOOM, it's clearly implied by the addition of "Screen Scaling Compatibility Mode" - a feature of Android 3.2 that we talked about a while ago.
