CyanogenMod 10 Nightlies Come To HTC EVO 4G LTE, One S, AT&T One X, And US Cellular Samsung Galaxy SIII

Since the debut of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean back at I/O, everyone has been clamoring for CyanogenMod 10. With the addition of each new device to the list of those with official nightly support, hopeful users of flagship handsets like the HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy SIII wondered when their day would come. While most variants of the SIII have already received nightlies, the US Cellular variant (d2usc) joined that list last night, along with a few other devices. Included among the new inductees are AT&T's HTC One X (Evita), the HTC One S (Ville), and Sprint's Evo 4G LTE (Jewel).

Last night, 73v1n, the author of the last few CyanogenMod boot animations, posted an updated and completely revamped version designed for CyanogenMod 10. It's very likely going to become the official animation of the ROM in the future, but if you want some of this goodness on your device stat (especially if you're running CM 7 or 9, as the version number doesn't appear in the newest animation), you don't have to wait for CM10 at all - 73v1n has now uploaded it for everyone to enjoy.

There are 6 landscape and 7 portrait sizes, so you'll be able to find a good match for even the quirkiest of devices.

Here Is The CyanogenMod 10 Boot Animation - Clean, Gorgeous, And Done Exactly Right [Video]

73v1n (a.k.a. @Xevin, a.k.a. Cameron Behzadpour), the creator of official CyanogenMod boot animations, dropped the version for CM10 a couple of minutes ago. Jelly Bean-colored, clean, and simple, yet, in my opinion, highly attractive, the animation hits the nail on the head. There no Cid, no controversy surrounding him, no outdated skater dude - just pure awesomeness. I won't spoil the fun - just watch.

[Updated: They're Live] CyanogenMod: CM10 Nightlies For Several Devices Will Be Available Beginning Tonight

The day is here, people: CM10 nightlies will begin rolling out this evening. CyanogenMod took to its Google+ page just a short while ago to share the good news, along with a shortlist of device that should see a build later this evening:

  • The US SGS3 variants (note: the Verizon variant will require the recently unlocked bootloader)
  • The Galaxy Nexus variants
  • The Nexus S variants
  • The Nexus 7
  • The Transformer and Transformer Prime
  • The SGS1 variants (Vibrant, Captivate, International, and i9000b)
  • The SGS2 i9100g
  • P3 and P5 tablets

Update 8/18/12 12:14am PST: The first promised nightlies are live:

Definition: A "nightly" is a bleeding edge release that is built on a daily basis, usually at night after a full day's worth of new code has been committed.

Motorola Xoom, ASUS Transformer, Transformer Prime Get CyanogenMod 10 Test/Preview Builds

With the level of anticipation surrounding Jelly Bean and CyanogenMod 10, pretty much any news of a working build is good news. Today, test/preview builds of CM10 have surfaced for Motorola's Xoom as well as the ASUS Transformer and Transformer Prime (tf101 and 201).

Of course, since these are preview builds, they aren't perfectly stable. It's also worth noting that unofficial builds carry no guarantee of support or update.

That being said, the Transformer builds are surprisingly functional with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, sound, camera, video acceleration, some dock functionality, and most sensors functional. GPS and light sensor functionality isn't quite there yet, but most of the device's critical functionality is present.

Archos 101 G9 Turbo Review: A Good Budget Tablet, Largely Because It Gets Out Of Google's Way

Archos may not make the most headlines for its series of mid-range tablets, but occasionally, one of them deserves a mention. The Archos 101 G9 is a strong contender for your money if you're on a tight budget. The savants among you may want to hold off for a Galaxy Note 10.1, or whatever Google is cooking up for its tablet line. Still, with prices starting at $270 for the 8" 8GB version to $330 for the 10" 8GB version, it's difficult to ignore. Oh, and did I mention it runs stock Ice Cream Sandwich?

Hardware And Build Quality

On the inside, the tablet isn't a beast, but it's no slouch either.

Editorial: How Android Can Save The BlackBerry (Hint: It's Not With Some Half-Baked App Player)

Now, we're an Android blog and all, but we aren't exactly deaf to the seemingly never-ending corporate death-curdle that is Research in Motion. As we speak, the tech world is watching (halfway out of actual interest, half for sheer entertainment value) as the once seemingly immovable enterprise titan rolls, like a god on high fallen from Olympus, to the bottom of a mountain called Relevancy.

The story of that tumble can be told, foot by foot, from the day of the iPhone launch. Then, from the rise of Android (particularly, the Motorola DROID). And from that point forward, by the so-long-it's-getting-kind-of-funny list of poor (even foolish) decisions made by RIM's management.

Android Market "10 Billion Promo" Final Day Ten Deals: Shine Runner, Camera Zoom FX, Puffle Launch, Heavy Gunner 3D, And More Just 10¢ Each
