Today, we are thrilled to share some exciting news about the next version of Gmail for Android. We may or may not be in possession of an unreleased version of Gmail, which may or may not have come from an LG Nexus system dump. One thing I am sure of is we definitely have video of it, which is just one short paragraph away.

Update: You can download the new Gmail here: [Exclusive] Download: The Unreleased Gmail 4.2 APK With Pinch-To-Zoom And More.

To get the latest and greatest on your tablet, you need only download the blob file, extract its contents, and then flash away.

This update should match that of its Wi-Fi counterpart, bringing some subtle, yet noticeable, enhancements to the device. You'll be able to feel the difference immediately thanks to Project Butter, and get the latest El Goog has to offer in the realm of voice controls with Google Now.

Have you been watching your weight? You might want to skip this post, then. The official Pinkberry app has arrived on Android, and while downloading it does not cause delicious frozen yogurt to appear in your hands, you do get a free yogurt for registering in the app. The Pinkberry app also comes with a number of other goodies free of charge.

With the Pinkberry app you can search for nearby stores, pay for your yogurt with a Pinkberry virtual card, and track how much frozen yogurt you're stuffing yourself with.

Moments ago, CyanogenMod's Google+ page announced that Sony's Xperia T, the flagship device we first covered during IFA 2012, is joining the CyanogenMod device roster, offering a link to the device's Gerrit code review page and a quick James Bond reference.

What's more, the Xperia T's first (experimental) nightly build is already live in CyanogenMod's download center.

If you've got an Xperia T and have been itching for CM goodness "shaken, not stirred," keep a close watch on get.cm (linked below) for the latest nightly builds.

A new app update means a new APK Teardown here at AP. Today's victim is the Google Play Store, which was just freshly updated to 3.9.16. We've got all sorts of stuff to talk about.

A Built-In Malware Scanner

Yes, it's hard to believe, but Google is working on a malware scanner for the Play Store. The string file doesn't lie:

    <string name="package_malware_title">App Check</string>
<string name="package_malware_consent_text">"Allow Google to check all apps installed to this device for harmful behavior?

If you hadn't noticed, Dropbox and Google Drive have been having a friendly rivalry ever since the latter popped up on Android. The latest update to the Dropbox app (2.2) makes good on the additional photo features they've been adding over the last year by revamping the user interface, especially for the photos and videos automatically updated to your cloud storage drive. The UI is now more of a gallery than a bare-bones file browser, thanks to the new Photos tab.

Yesterday, Android maintainer JBQ posted up a number of binaries and Android 4.1.2 images for multiple Nexus devices. Owners of international GSM variants of the Galaxy Nexus, though, were left out on the image side. Today, both the "soju" (Nexus S) and "yakju" (Galaxy Nexus GSM) have had their factory images updated to Android 4.1.2, and you can find those images here.

Google also saw fit to finally release a factory image for the Nexus Q, though it's based on Android 4.0.4.

Google just started rolling out an updated Google Play Store version 3.9.16 that follows the previous version 3.8.17 from August. Good news, everyone - we've already got our hands on the APK for you to install manually thanks to our loyal tipsters.

What's New

The most notable and immediately apparent new feature is the long overdue ability to remove apps you've previously downloaded from the All Apps list.

zagattiny

Sure, Google may have acquired Zagat and used the company's renowned ratings engine to start powering its data on everything from electronics stores to car washes. However, the review site got its start in restaurants way back in the day, and even after the purchase, continues to provide helpful information on every aspect of your food consumption outings. So, why not give the service its own app? Well, that's just what everyone's favorite search giant did!
