[Confirmed] Nexus 6P Has Latest Gen Samsung AMOLED Panel

The Nexus 6 was a pretty good device when it was released last year, but it was not without its flaws. One glaring issue the phone had was an AMOLED panel with sub-par white balance and color reproduction. Well, it seems the Nexus team heard your complaints and confirmed on Reddit that they have addressed the problem by outfitting this year's flagship, the Nexus 6P, with the latest gen Samsung AMOLED panel.

What's more, they also spent a considerable amount of time fine tuning the white balance and color gamut on the panel to give it the highest amount of accuracy possible.

It's always something with Nexus cameras. This year Google assures us that the Nexus 5X and 6P will have great photo taking capabilities, but it's hard to let go of the past and all those broken promises. While the 6P does indeed look like an impressive phone for snapping pics, the 5X might struggle a bit more. According to Dave Burke in the Reddit AMA, the 5X won't have electronic image stabilization, 240fps mode, or SmartBurst because it's not fast enough.

The Nexus 5X And 6P Have Software-Accelerated Encryption, But The Nexus Team Says It's Better Than Hardware Encryption

The Nexus 6 had a lot of fine qualities, but the sluggish storage performance was a disappointment. This was mostly due to the automatic device encryption, which was managed by software rather than hardware. In today's Reddit AMA, the Nexus team was asked about encryption support in the Nexus 5X and 6P. VP of Engineering Dave Burke responded, saying it's still software-based, but it should be even faster than hardware encryption this time.

Hiroshi Lockheimer of the Google team that build the Nexus 5X and 6P is currently answering questions in a Reddit AMA, and one that came up concerns those mysterious letters at the end of this year's devices. Rather than releasing the Nexus 5 (2015) and Nexus 6 (2015), Google tacked on the letter X to the former and P to the latter.

Google's Hiroshi Lockheimer Explains In Reddit AMA Why The New Nexus Phones Lack Wireless Charging

Google was one of the first to embrace wireless charging when it was added to the Nexus line back in 2012. All the Nexus phones since have had Qi wireless charging, but not this year. Maps v9.15 Adds A Toggle To Turn Off Traffic Event Notifications [APK Download]

Google Maps received a fairly minor update last night, bumping it up to v9.15. There aren't any big visible changes, and even the teardown was pretty light, but there is one addition to the Settings screen that's worth mentioning. Under the Notifications section is a new checkbox titled "Traffic information." Obviously, it lets you shut off traffic notifications, which might be fairly handy if you already know they're coming or there tend to be a lot of false positives reported in your area. It's not the most exciting feature, but it will certainly matter to a few users.

This is the only noticeable change to the interface we've seen so far, but there may be some others lurking in a corner we haven't checked yet.

It's been barely 24 hours since the Nexus 6P was officially unveiled, but already you can order dozens of cases from Amazon for the phone you won't even have for weeks. DxOMark Ranks The Sony Xperia Z5's Camera As The Best On A Smartphone Yet

Well it was nice while it lasted. Just one day after DxOMark said the Nexus 6P's camera was second only to the Galaxy S6 Edge, it has declared a new phone at the top. The title now goes to the Sony Xperia Z5.

The Xperia Z5 is set to hit the market soon with a 5.2 inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 810 chip, 3GB of RAM, and Android 5.1. But what is most relevant here is that 23MP camera on the back, which can capture 5520 by 4120 images. Sony is well known for its camera technology, and it looks like the Xperia Z5 doesn't disappoint.
