The amount of leaked information about the Droid Bionic that we're seeing is growing at a rapid pace now - even further proving that a release is drawing near. [Leak] Motorola Droid 3 To Be Released On July 14th?

If there is anything that we don't know about the Motorola Droid 3 at this point, it's the release date. That last bit of the puzzle looks to have been found by Droid Attic though, as they have gotten a hold of an internal image from Best Buy that suggests a July 14th release date.

That release date is one week after VZW's rumored transition from unlimited to tiered data, so if you're thinking about making the switch to Big Red for this phone, get ready to watch those MBs closely.

Motorola Droid X CyanogenMod Goes Official, Now Served Nightly

This week has definitely been the week of the Droid X - after about a year of being on the market, the magic of the "2nd init" hack allowed for the first ever unofficial build of CyanogenMod 7 on this popular U.S. device. Only days after the momentous announcement, the Droid X CyanogenMod, led by the great cvpcs, is now part of the official CM source tree and served nightly from the CM mirror network.

[Rumor] Motorola Droid/Milestone 3 Will Not Be Released In The UK, But The Motorola Pro Will?

Rumors come and go everyday in the tech world, and some just don't make any sense. This one falls directly into that category, as the word on the street is that Motorola will not be releasing the Droid/Milestone 3 in the UK. There is no reason or justification as to why Moto may have made this decision, but (of course) there is speculation. UK tech blog Clove thinks that it could be because of the lackluster sales of the Milestone 2, or perhaps there just isn't much of a market for slide-out QWERTY devices, citing the demise of the HTC Desire Z in the UK as reasoning.

[Video] CyanogenMod 7 Ported To Motorola DROID X

Ladies and gentlemen, it appears that cvpcs has achieved the impossible: he's thrown together (but not yet publicized) a build of CyanogenMod 7 that works on the Motorola DROID X!

Naturally, since no one but cvpcs has the firmware yet, there are still a few kinks that need to be ironed out before the ROM goes public - for example, GPS, 3G, Bluetooth, and the camera/camcorder have not been proven to work just yet, and audio (including phone calls, speakers, the microphone, etc.) definitely isn't functional at the moment.

Motorola Droid 3 Shows Off Its Updated Looks And Hardware In 3 Leaked Videos

Not much was known for a fact about the next crown jewel in the Droid line of Android phones that played a such a crucial part in the growth of the OS in the past 2 years. We had a suspicion that it would have a 4" screen, lose "the lip," and gain a dual-core CPU and a front-facing camera, all while bearing the name Droid 3, but no concrete proof of any of those.

[Review] Motorola DROID X2: Even Raw Horsepower Can't Save This Phone From Mediocrity

Update: June 4, 2011 - I've taken an awful lot of flak for this review (and that's fine). I stand by the review because I can't honestly recommend this phone in good conscience. With that in mind, I realize that not everyone may share my opinions, and that's why I suggest potential purchasers go and take a look at it to see if they will notice the screen issues as much as I do.

[Updated: Update Should Start Tonight, But Maybe Not For Everyone] Verizon: Motorola Droid X Gingerbread Update Starts Friday

UPDATE: According to Droid Life, the update should start tonight, but it may just be a "soak test", for users that signed up via Motorola's support forums. That's not entirely confirmed at this point, so if you happen to get the update, drop us a line.

A couple of notes from Motorola about the update:

  • The update will be pushed late tonight. If you go to bed, it should be waiting for you in the morning.

[Unboxing & Initial Hands-On] Motorola Droid X2: Twice The Cores, Same Great Taste

The Motorola Droid X2 has only been out for a day now - and still can't be purchased via Verizon brick-and-mortars yet- but we've already managed to land one for review. I haven't had much time with it, but I do have some unboxing and hands-on pictures to go along with the initial impressions.

I'm not going to run through the unboxing in words because... well, it's me taking something out of a box.

Motorola DROID X2 Rooted Via Gingerbreak - Well, That Was Easy

Well, that's the easy part done. The DROID X2 has been rooted, huzzah! The device was found to be vulnerable to one of the known root exploits out there (Gingerbreak) - apparently Moto couldn't be bothered to patch up the hole (the fix has been backported to 2.2 from AOSP, according to our own Justin Case.) This hasn't been fully confirmed yet, but it seems plausible, given that all previous Motorola Froyo builds have been susceptible to this exploit.
