You Can Now Enable Large Icons For Most Visited Sites On Chrome's New Tab Page Using A Flag

In March we covered work the Chromium team has been up to that changes the way most visited websites appear on Chrome's new tab page. Instead of a grid of (largely blank) thumbnails, the browser can display large icons instead. At the time, users had to force the feature while running Chrome Canary. Now you just have to toggle "Enable large icons on the New Tab page" at chrome://flags/#enable-icon-ntp.

[Womp Womp] Motorola's David Schuster Says Lollipop For The DROID Turbo Is Still In Lab Testing

Motorola pushed out the Android 5.0 update to some variants of the Moto X late last year, and that was followed by a few more 5.0 updates and now a 5.1 OTA for some devices. The DROID Turbo, on the other hand, is languishing on Android 4.4. A few rumored dates have come and gone, and now Motorola's David Schuster is trying to cool the speculation. He says it's still being tested.

An Exclusive Peek At Hangouts 4.0 On Android Wear

Yesterday, we took a look at the upcoming Hangouts 4.0, a yet unreleased update that promises to clean up the Hangouts interface in many ways. But there was one thing we didn't cover in that post - the Android Wear app that will apparently come with the update to 4.0. Since yesterday we've been playing with the app and thought it would be good to follow up with a quick overview of what it does.

How Not To Get Killed Every Other Second In Hotline: Miami [Sponsored Post]

Tips and tricks for hardest game on the NVIDIA SHIELD by Adam Hartley

It’s a tough life, fighting Russian gangsters in the neon-soaked apocalypse that is the Florida cityscape featured in Hotline Miami, which has been specially re-mastered to play better than ever before on the new NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV.

Hotline Miami is a cracking launch title for NVIDIA’s new SHIELD machine, mainly because it is a real “gamer’s game” and never anything less than an absolute delight to play, with its top-down 2D style clearly inspired by the original Grand Theft Auto games and its banging electro dub soundtrack reminiscent of the 2011 Ryan Gosling movie, Drive.

[Update: AirPlay, Too] Google Slides For Android Gets Long-Awaited Chromecast Support [APK Download]

When Google unveiled the Chromecast, more than a handful of people looked at the dongle as a cheap way to get around putting up with projectors and VGA cables when giving presentations. Unfortunately the company seemed in no hurry to actually update the Slides app with compatibility. Casting presentations saved on Drive required mirroring an Android screen or using a laptop instead. But as Cody discovered in an APK teardown back in February, support was finally set to land in Slides at any moment.

ASUS ZenFone 2 Review: A Good Inexpensive Phone That Would Be Much Better With Stock Android

When you think smartphones, ASUS probably rarely comes to mind. While the company has been building Android phones for several years now, their market penetration outside of Asia has been relatively low, and so they rarely get much attention in American or European markets. But the ZenFone 2, when it launched at CES six months ago, definitely raised eyebrows.

At a starting price of just $199, ASUS is offering up a phone with extremely impressive specifications for a do-a-double-take MSRP - it almost sounds too good to be true. Thankfully, I don't think it is - the ZenFone 2 is a solid phone that works pretty much like any Android 5.0+ device you'll encounter while simultaneously blowing the doors off pretty much any competitor at this price point for raw spec sheet power.

Google+ 5.7 Introduces Gray FAB Button In Communities, Profile Loading Spinner, And Other Minor Tweaks [APK Download]

Some updates get everyone excited. Others appeal to a select few. Google 5.7 is more of the latter. There are a few tweaks here, and while they're not going to drastically alter your Google+ing all that much, they're still worth a peek. So here's a look.

What's New

You know the floating action button that hovers in the bottom right corner? Usually it's red, and there's a white pencil inside. Tapping it allows you to quickly make a post.

Now when you're browsing a community, that button turns gray.

Another change makes Google+ come off as a tad less flaky.

Verizon's Prepaid Version Of The Moto E (Second Generation) Updated To Android 5.1

Hey Verizon, you do know that your flagship and completely exclusive DROID Turbo is still running on Android 4.4, right? Right? That being the case, does it seem a little odd that the cheapest of the Moto line, the Moto E, which is only sold to pre-paid Verizon customers, now runs the latest version of Android? No? Well OK, then. If you have the second-gen version of the Moto E, expect an update sometime in the next few days. If you have a DROID Turbo, buy a Moto E.

Verizon's notes on Lollipop 5.1 don't mention anything out of the ordinary for the update, which shouldn't surprise you, since Motorola's cheaper phones run a version of Android that's almost completely stock.

Sony Xperia Z4 Launches In Japan With Overheating Warning From Carrier NTT Docomo And Plenty Of User Complaints

Sony is in a strange place these days. It has been on a 6-8 month flagship update schedule for several years, which is surely hard to maintain. Now the Z4 is out in Japan and the Snapdragon 810 at its heart is reportedly getting very, very toasty. So much so that carrier NTT Docomo has warning signs in retail stores. Ouch.
