As was the the G2, LG's G3 is one of the most leaked high-end smartphones of the year, and the information just seems to keep on flowing. Today, GSM Arena posted images from an internal presentation on the G3 in Korea, and they basically confirm many of the device's suspected components.
Perhaps most importantly, the G3 will apparently be the first major smartphone to launch with a QHD (Quad HD) display, something long predicted as inevitable in the race to ever-denser screens. Read More
Readers of a certain age may remember when MacGyver was a show on TV and not just a campy way to refer to tinkering with junk to make neat stuff. Now you can take on the role of MacGyver in the official MacGyver Deadly Descent game. It is unclear if you get to build an ultralight plane out of an old outboard motor, pipes, and a tarp, but there are plenty of puzzles to solve. Read More
It took me a really long time to jump on the reddit train. I would look at it occasionally, but only in recent months have I really started to enjoy using it. Part of that is due to Reddit Sync – it's just a killer, well-designed app that I wanted to use more after covering its UI overhaul back in December. Ever since then, I haven't gone a day without firing up the app and checking out what's happening across the 'net. Read More
Last year, Samsung got into some hot water for including an automatic "high power mode" for certain apps, dialing up the processor and GPU scaling. There's nothing wrong with that in theory, but these changes were enabled specifically for benchmark apps, giving the benchmarks results that, while not technically incorrect, were artificially inflated and unlikely to be indicative of everyday performance.
Yesterday, popular custom ROM family CyanogenMod added similar state-dependent modes to its latest batches of code, and as soon as the power profiling function was added, specific triggers for the popular Quadrant and Antutu benchmarks were added as well. Read More

I'm a big fan of CCleaner for windows. In fact, I use a few Piriform applications (Speccy is the best). Thus, I immediately opted into the company's beta program when it launched CCleaner for Android. It's a simple application, but it's still packing some useful utilities under a name I trust.
Until today, anyway.
As of the most recent update, CCleaner is basically nothing more than a glorified task killer. Read More
When you gather all these devices together for an update, there's no doubt Sony really loves the letter Z. Apparently it also loves KitKat, because all these devices are about to get their Android 4.4. KitKat updates. It's more than a number in this case – Sony has made some substantial tweaks.
HBO shows aren't the easiest ones to get our hands on, but Amazon has snagged a deal that should make doing so easier for Prime subscribers. Starting today, customers in the US will have access to all seasons of several HBO series (such as The Sopranos, The Wire, and Flight of the Conchords) and select seasons of several others (True Blood and Boardwalk Empire, for example). HBO has also aired several mini-series over the years (Band of Brothers, John Adams, The Pacific, etc.), and Prime subscribers will now have access to them as well. Read More
