Google started testing free passes through the Field Trip app back in May, and now the program is expanding to more locations. Throughout the month of July, venturing near a participating location will produce a free single-admittance pass. The list of attractions is much larger than last time.
It's not much of a surprise at this point, but the Federal Communications Commission has approved the tri-company merger deal involving Japanese carrier SoftBank, Sprint, and Clearwire. The FCC ruling follows Justice Department approval several weeks ago, and some delicious drama that ended with Dish Network being shut out of the deal.
SoftBank is throwing $21.6 billion at Sprint to acquire a 78% stake in the company. Sprint is now also free to buy the remaining 49% of Clearwire it doesn't already own, giving it a big juicy slice of wireless spectrum.
Look, we all love skeuomorphism. Without reservation, I will admit to drooling over digital interfaces made entirely of green felt and leather stitching. That's why this Android launcher is just so darn good. 3D Home turns your home screen into a room. Everything you use on your phone becomes an object in this room – a digital recreation of a real world item. Clearly, you must have this immediately. Lucky you, it's free.
Update 7/9/13: Clove updated the timeline from July 15th all the way to September 9th. Boo:
UPDATE - The release date of the Sony SmartWatch 2 has been put back to September and will not be launching week commencing 15th July as previously stated. The revised arrival date is week commencing 9th September.
Sony announced the second version of its Bluetooth SmartWatch just a couple of weeks ago, and you'll be able to buy one in another couple of weeks, at least if you live in the United Kingdom.
Busy Beaver is not the most visually stunning, original, mind-blowing puzzle game out there. Actually, it feels like what happens when a developer plays around with the idea of creating a Tetris clone, only to accidentally stumble across a little tweak that is just functional to turn into a game. In this case, though, it works.
In Busy Beaver, puzzle pieces fall from the sky, as usual, but players don't control them.

If you want in, follow the instructions we posted last time. If you're already in, get ready for a bug-squashing update.
