Pollen forecasts are now available in the Google app

While probing the v7.1 update for the Google app, Cody discovered an image of a flower titled ic_pollen_count.png. It was pretty clear that Google was planning to implement some sort of pollen forecast in search at some point, and now it's been made official.

T-Mobile has started deploying 600MHz LTE, phones coming later this year

T-Mobile spent big on the FCC's 600MHz spectrum auction earlier this year, and it's already putting those new licenses to use. The carrier reports that it's flipped the switch on 600MHz LTE in Cheyenne, Wyoming using new Nokia equipment. Residents of Cheyenne can't do anything with that fancy new network yet, though. No current phones have support for the latest network technology, but that'll change in the coming months.

Sony Xperia XZ1 renders and photos leak, but since it looks like the XZ you can't tell

I still haven't wrapped my head around Sony's naming scheme, and already we have news on the next big phone from the manufacturer. A large number of renders and photographs of a dummy unit for the XZ1 leaked late yesterday. And, as the incremental name would suggest, the XZ1 looks almost identical to the XZ.

2015's Huawei Watch is no longer the most recent smartwatch from the Chinese tech company, but in our eyes, it's still the best. SmartThings implements a fix for its recently buggy integration with Google Home

If you have a SmartThings hub and a Google Home, you may have noticed that the two haven't been playing nice together since July. The issue was brought to our attention when we covered the SmartThings Hub 50% off deal a couple of days ago, and as I understand it (I don't have an ST hub myself), it seems that many users noticed that devices already added by SmartThings in Google Home either weren't operational anymore or that when they tried to do the integration for the first time, Google Home would import all their smart devices without giving them the choice to pick or exclude.

Facebook is adjusting the newsfeed to make it easier to read and more conversational

Although it might not always seem like it, UX is paramount to Facebook's devs. They want to make engagement with the app as easy as possible in order to persuade users to keep coming back for more. Every change they make is rigorously tested, a difficult task given UI preferences are highly subjective among the app's billions of users. For that reason, we don't see too many changes. Over the next few weeks, Facebook is going to roll out some of the biggest visual adjustments we'll have seen for quite some time.

[VaporWear] Misfit is now saying the Vapor Android Wear watch doesn't have standalone GPS

When things do look too good to be true, they might actually turn out to be just that. The Misfit Vapor was announced in January with what seemed to be a proprietary OS, but when it was later revealed that the smartwatch/activity tracker would run Android Wear 2.0, we were very excited. It suddenly became one of the best value-for-money Wear watches (well, if you don't care about NFC for payments) thanks to its activity tracker roots, big screen with ambient light sensor and no flat tire, interesting touch bezel for controls, 50m water resistance, $199.99 price tag, and integrated GPS to boot...

Essential hasn't been doing great with deadlines on its new PH-1 smartphone, with its promised 30-day shipping period being missed and a statement some weeks after that claiming that the phone would be available "in a few weeks." Well, a few weeks have passed, and it looks like pre-orderers are getting their shiny new Snapdragon 835-powered, ceramic-backed phones very soon.
