[Bug Watch] The Pixel and possibly Android 7.1 have Bluetooth pairing issues with many vehicles

Here's a blast from the past: Google's new phone is having trouble pairing or staying connected to Bluetooth in many cars. In 2015 we went through this with the Nexus phones on Marshmallow, and this year it's the Pixel with 7.1. Google is aware of the issue, and is actively investigating.

[Deal Alert] UE Roll (1st Gen) on sale for $45 – its lowest price yet – at BestBuy

What's waterproof, great sounding, affordably priced, and shaped like a flying saucer? The UE Roll Bluetooth speaker, which is currently on sale at BestBuy for $45, the lowest price I've seen for it yet.

The Roll is an awesome little device, with a surprising amount of punch for its size and a form factor that makes it easy to carry in a backpack or purse. I reviewed the Roll 2 earlier this year and was very impressed. It's one of my go-to speakers any time I travel due to its impressive sound, portability, and durability.

The model on sale today is the first gen Roll, but it's nearly the same device as the Roll 2.

PlayStation Vue expands to Android TV today, PC and Mac web support coming soon

Sony just announced today that its PlayStation Vue streaming service is coming to Android TV. If you do not know what Vue is, it might just seem like another streaming option. It is actually more akin to Dish's Sling TV with live TV channels, sports networks, and HBO and Showtime across a variety of price tiers. Additionally, the "PlayStation" moniker might give the impression of requiring Sony's PlayStation 4 game console — it actually doesn't. For all of the cord cutters out there, this is just another good option in a growing market.

Oh... Sir! The Insult Simulator lets players destroy their opponents in the most British way possible

In 2013, the Daily Express ran an informal poll that determined Winston Churchill's famous response to a Parliament member, "Yes I am drunk, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly," to be the best insult in history. That's certainly debatable, but it demonstrates that the Brits love a good jape, the more cutting the better. That attitude has been given life in Oh... Sir! The Insult Simulator, a turn-based combat game where insults are your weapons and words are your ammunition.

Twitter is discontinuing Vine, but existing videos will live on for now

Twitter launched the Vine video sharing app in 2013, and it was a moderate success. Other apps added similar quick video features, but Vine never seemed like a high priority for Twitter. The company announced today that it's discontinuing the Vine app in the coming months, but it's not deleting your Vines... at least not yet.

Pushbullet now supports replying to Allo messages from a computer

One of the many issues with Google's latest messaging app, Allo, is the total lack of a desktop application. Picking up my phone to respond to a message, when I'm already at my computer with a physical keyboard, seems silly. Allo 2.0, released yesterday, added the ability to quick reply from the notifications. Today's Pushbullet update taps into the quick reply functionality to add Allo support.

Jaybird has been one of the most high-profile makers of Bluetooth headphones in recent years. In fact, Logitech bought the company for cash a while back. The Jaybird Freedom earbuds were alright, but not the most well-received product from Jaybird. A lot of people stuck with the Jaybird X2 to see what the X3 looked like. Now, the Jaybird X3 Wireless Sport Headphones are a thing. They'll be out next month for $129.99.

LG's mobile unit records possible worst quarterly loss ever at nearly $400 million

LG just released the company's Q3 2016 financial results, and while at large LG is still profitable, its mobile unit is turning into a truly massive drag on the greater business. I've dug through about five years of LG's quarterly results, and I can't find a single one with a greater operating loss than the staggering $389.4 million the company reported this morning. This time last year, the mobile division was losing money, but not nearly on this scale. For reference, even at its peak bleeding during its ownership by Google, Motorola was only almost managing to burn this much money per quarter.
