[Deal Alert] NVIDIA Offers SHIELD Android TV Buyers A Second First-Party Controller Free ($60 Value) For A Limited Time

NVIDIA's SHIELD is the best stand-alone Android TV device on the market... in an admittedly limited field of competitors. At $200 with an included controller, it's at a fairly premium price for a set-top box (the top-of-the-line Roku streaming gadget is $130, for example). But if you plan to take advantage of its unique PC game streaming capability or NVIDIA's growing stable of exclusive Android games, it's not unreasonable for two bills. Now the pot gets a little sweeter: for a limited time, NVIDIA will throw in a second controller with a SHIELD TV purchase.

Now That Twitter Has Murdered Fenix, Finch Is A Decent (And Free) Alternative Third-Party Client For Android

So, Twitter. Hi. It's been a while. Are you people still completely screwing both the developers and the users that helped to make your platform a household name? Yeah? I kind of thought you'd get your heads out of your asses at this point, but I guess not. Since your stupid, stupid, stupid policies have killed yet another quality Twitter app for Android, ostensibly so you can continue to push your entirely mediocre first-party solution, it's time for us to look for another one.

[Hands-On] Google Announces MODE 'Snap-And-Go' Watchbands For Android Wear

Google already sells various Android Wear devices in the Google Store, but now it's getting into the accessory game with the MODE watchbands. These watchbands are on sale today in leather and silicone varieties and will work on any watch (Android Wear or other) that uses standard lugs. They're designed to be easily swapped with a new clip system, but they're not cheap. Google is asking $50 for the silicone ones and $60 for leather.

[Deal Alert] Telltales' Game Of Thrones Episodes Are Now $1.99 (60% Off) And The Entire Season Pass Is $4.99 (75% Off)

The way I understand it, Game Of Thrones is a TV show where every character that you love or hate dies, where people get terrified when Winter is coming, and where dragons and nudes cater to every person's weird and unfulfilled fantasies. Or something. I want to watch the show, but I can't handle all the suspense, so I'm going to wait until the last season starts and then binge watch it until I forget what daylight is and what real people do.

The Game of Thrones Android game is a different story though. It's an adventure game developed by Telltale, which has made a name for itself in this genre thanks to intriguing scripts and excellent voice acting.

Nokia Wants To Acquire French Digital Health Company Withings For 170 Million Euros

Ever since it sold off its mobile business to Microsoft and its mapping entity to a consortium of German carmakers, Nokia has been struggling to find its identity and reinvent itself amidst a changing and challenging ecosystem. Its network arm is still going strong, but the brand has lost much of, if not all of its halo when it comes to consumer-facing technologies.

Now Nokia might be looking at a new direction and an interesting way to sneak back into the market, as a digital health provider. It announced today that it wants to acquire Withings, a French company that specializes in Internet of Things products and connected health gadgets.

Download: Android N Notification Sticker Sheet (For Sketch) To Quickly Mock Up Notifications

For the designers in our audience, I'm back with another quick Sketch resource to download - this time, it's a sticker sheet for N-style notifications. There are eight variations, plus a simple frame to stick your sample notifications in.

Android N's notifications actually follow a very predictable style so far. There's a header line, which usually has an icon, app name, some secondary identifying info, time, and an expand/collapse toggle, and then there are two lines of text. The top line is primary messaging or identifying info (like a message-sender's name) and the second line is a secondary message, explanation, or text preview.

WSJ: Facebook Working On Dedicated Camera App For Still Photos And Live Video Streaming

Facebook wants you to share more - specifically, more photos and videos. With that in mind, the Wall Street Journal is today reporting that Facebook is working on a dedicated camera app to compete with the likes of Snapchat and Periscope, who are stealing the limelight away from Facebook's much-touted video platform.

The app would allow users to share photos to Facebook more easily and quickly than is currently possible - it's easy through Messenger, but sharing to your Timeline is a little more convoluted - plus stream live video with the tap of a button. Live video is of course new for Facebook, having launched on Android in February.

Android Police coverage: The Oatmeal's Exploding Kittens Card Game Comes To Android

Exploding Kittens is a card game. No really, it is! It's created and at least partially designed by the misanthrope who makes The Oatmeal web comic, so that helps explain some of the wilder elements.
