XDA Members Breathe New Life Into The ADT-1 With Android 6.0.1 'Pure Nexus' ROM

The ADT-1 was never released to the public, but handed out to developers after Google I/O 2014 as a test device for the new Android TV platform. It didn't get much attention from Google past Android 5.0.2, which was its last official update. However, developers are an unrelenting bunch and if they have an Android device lying around, you'd bet that they'll try to cook up ROMs for it as long as that's remotely feasible. (Exhibit A.)

So a few XDA members were tired of seeing the ADT-1 get shunned from OTA updates and decided to take care of the situation.

Merry Christmas everyone! This jolly message comes to you courtesy of your beloved Activision Publishing developer who has decided to grab a few bucks from your stockings because you've been a bad kid this year and you deserve to be punished for liking Zombie games and causing virtual mayhem.

For some reason, Activision has decided to re-release Call Of Duty: Black Ops Zombies under a new listing on the Play Store. The first-person shooter that puts you at the line of defense against hordes of zombies dates back to 2012 when Liam called it "interesting" in his review. It has been stagnating on the Play Store with no updates since December 2013 with plenty of reviewers complaining about compatibility, bugs, and overall sluggishness.

Motorola Releases Android 6.0 Kernel Source For The Moto X Pure 2015

Motorola's Moto X Pure, codenamed Clark, is feeling super this Christmas. The device has begun receiving its Android 6.0 Marshmallow update toward the beginning of the month and now tinkerers and developers can delve into what this update is all about.

The kernel source files for the Marshmallow software have been released on GitHub. If you're a regular user, this has very little impact on you, but if you like to install custom ROMs or, even better, if you like building them, this source code should help everyone get more stable ROMs a little down the line.

This is the first non-Nexus Motorola device to see its 6.0 kernel source released, even though many Moto devices have already gotten their Marshmallowy OTA goodness.

A Closer Look At The More Product-Centered Google+ On Android (And, Yes, The Bottom Tab Bar)

Many a double-take were... taken? when the brand new Google+ redesign was unveiled. Not because the design didn't look great, or didn't perform well (as we know, the website is highly responsive and super speedy), but because of an interface element that appeared on the new Android app - the bottom tab bar.

Not since the days of holo have we seen the split action bar in Google's apps (unless you count the bar in Keep), so it seemed odd to find a bottom tab bar so prominently featured on almost every screen of Google+ in 2015. But there's more to the tab bar than just its unfamiliarity on the platform.

LG Announces The G Pad II 8.3 LTE With A Stylus And Full-Sized USB Port, But Only For Korea At The Moment

Back in August LG announced new versions of its G Pad tablet in both 8 and 10-inch varieties. Aside from a couple of features like an integrated stylus on the former, they weren't all that interesting, just middling updates of the previous budget-focused models. Even when one of them showed up in the US for a little carrier-branded fun, it was met with a big fat "meh." The sequel to the G Pad 8.3, which was actually quite nice when it launched back in 2013, is likewise underwhelming.

LG announced the G Pad II LTE for its home market of South Korea yesterday.

Tired Of The OnePlus X Being A Slippery Fingerprint Magnet? dbrand Is Here To Save The Day With OPX Skins [Sponsored Post]

We've all had to deal with slippery phones before, and it's terrible. The fear of dropping your brand new gadget is a constant dark cloud that oftentimes takes away some of the joy one generally feels when they get a new device. No one wants that.

According to many reviews—both professional and personal—that's one of the biggest issues with the newest OnePlus handset, the X. While elegantly designed and aesthetically very pleasing, it's also difficult to keep in the hand. To make matters worse, it's also a fingerprint magnet. Those two things combined can make for a pretty bad experience when it comes to holding the phone.
