Images Of An Unnamed HTC Device Surface - Could Be The Rumored 5" Mega-Smartphone Headed To Verizon

No, it's not an Evo. Don't let your eyes deceive you. What you're looking at are leaked pictures of an in-development HTC device. We don't know much about this one just yet. The phone lacks any carrier-specific branding, though the red accents are pretty typical of Verizon color schemes, such as the Droid Incredible.

The site that posted these photos originally, PhoneHK, makes mention of this being a 5" device. Combined with the Verizon-ish color scheme, one might be tempted to believe that this is an early look at the Note-like device we've heard about previously. That HTC phone was rumored to have a full 1080p display, with a quad-core Krait-based S4.

List Of Some Isis Launch Devices Revealed - Includes Most Galaxy S III Variants And More

MasterCard and T-Mobile revealed some information about which devices we can expect Isis on when it launches at the end of September (according to Bloomberg), though we have no reason to believe this constitutes every supported device. Here's the list of compatible Android phones, as we've compiled it.

- Galaxy S III
- HTC Amaze 4
Verizon
- DROID Incredible 4G LTE
- Galaxy S III
AT&T
- One X
- Galaxy S III

A number of other devices are listed as supporting "any" standard on MasterCard's list, some being international phones, so it's unclear whether phones labeled in this fashion that are in the US will actually support Isis, or if they are merely deemed compatible with it.

[Leak] HTC Droid Incredible 2 Gets Its Own Ice Cream Sandwich ROM Based On Leaked RUU

It looks like another one of HTC's handsets (besides the Thunderbolt) has gotten a Sense-ified Ice Cream Sandwich ROM of its own – today, XDA user nitsuj17 posted a ROM for the Droid Incredible 2 (aka vivow) allegedly based on another leaked RUU from HTC. Readers may remember the Incredible 2 as being among devices officially slated by HTC to receive Ice Cream Sandwich "by the end of August," so this leak's timing isn't too hard to figure out.

The ROM, which carries Sense 3.6 over top of Ice Cream Sandwich and software build number 7.01.605.01, is the stock HTC fair you may expect, but with a few tweaks ranging from root to removal of HTC's inconvenient app association settings.

Manufacturers, you're awful at naming things. Sorry. It's true. In many cases, you've either muddied the brand of your flagship devices, or made it incredibly difficult for customers to know what they should be asking for when they walk into a store. This is probably not a good thing since you want customers to buy your stuff. More than that, though, you want them to love your stuff, so they'll buy more of it. Making it easier to say the name of the product will go a long way towards that goal.

Today, I'm going to help you with this problem.

CyanogenMod: Nexus One, Desire, EVO 4G, Incredible, Hero, Legend, Xperia X10, And Many More Won't Get Official Updates Past CM7

The day that many ROM enthusiasts have been dreading has arrived: the CyanogenMod Team has announced the end of life support for the original Nexus One, along with other first-generation Snapdragon devices, including the HTC EVO 4G, [Droid] Incredible and Desire and others. None of these devices have official builds of CyanogenMod 9 (though plenty of independent ROM developers have done their best) and they won't be getting any CM updates beyond the 7.X Gingerbread branch.

The reason is a limitation in the media libraries of most of these devices, as well as a general lack of on-board storage in the second generation of Android hardware.

Editorial: Samsung Has Given Up On Fighting Apple's Unified Search Patent - Where Do We Go From Here, Google?

Update: It appears Samsung sent out the update removing universal search from international Galaxy S III's mistakenly. I'd say the point still stands for the United States, though.

On December 1, 2004, a patent was filed in the United States naming Apple as asignee (owner). Its title is "Universal interface for retrieval of information in a computer system." This patent, which you can find here, has become Apple's most effective weapon in its fight to see Android dubbed an iOS "ripoff" by courts and consumers.

And effective it has been - Samsung just removed the local search feature from the international version of the Galaxy S III, having already removed it from the US versions on AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon.
