Verizon just announced a new maintenance update for the DROID RAZR M that brings various fixes to the device, including improved Wi-Fi connectivity, voice call volume, and visual voicemail connectivity. The camera's touch-to-focus is now also better, apparently, and the camera itself will take better low-light photos. Expect the update to roll out in the next week or two. You can see the complete changelog in the image below.

The last update to roll out to the RAZR M was Android 4.1, back in November. It'll definitely be interesting to see how quickly Moto updates this handset (and others) to Android 4.2 in the coming year.

Good news, everyone! ...or at least, everyone with an international LG Optimus G and an inclination to try out custom ROM builds. The ubiquitous CyanogenMod ROM is now available for LG's flagship, beginning with nightly CM 10.1 (Android 4.2) builds. CyanogenMod developer Ricardo Cerqueira broke the news on his Google+ account, noting that the new builds are possible thanks to the FreeGee tool expanding to the international (E975) model.

As always, you'll need a custom recovery to apply the ROM, and ClockworkMod has also been ported from to the international Optimus G model. Nightly builds tend to be a little less stable as a general rule, but since the Optimus G already has a pretty healthy development community for other versions (not to mention a certain Nexus-flavored cousin) they should be relatively complete.

4.99 inches? Small potatoes. 5.5 inches? That's like a baby's toy! In their quest to extend smartphones to every possible dimension, Samsung has announced the GALAXY Mega 5.8 and GALAXY Mega 6.3, with (you guessed it) 5.8" and 6.3" screens, respectively. While these husky and fluffy phones (the Galaxy Note 8.0 probably falls into the dayum category) are styled after the new Galaxy S4, their specifications plant them firmly in the mid-range, bringing gigantic screens to markets that were previously off-limits. Neither phone has the Note's trademark S-Pen stylus.

The most telling part of the spec sheet is resolution, or rather, the lack thereof.

ASUS started pushing Android 4.2.1 to the Transformer Pad Infinity exactly one week ago, but if you've been waiting for the blob to hit the company's download site for whatever reason, it's available now. This makes available build 10.6.1.14.4 to those who wish to manually flash (or need to recovery after a catastrophic event).

Currently the full firmware download is available for the US (United States), WW (Worldwide), and TW (Taiwan) versions of the HD tablet. Other parts of the world will have to wait

Definition: A "nightly" is a bleeding edge release that is built on a daily basis, usually at night after a full day's worth of new code has been committed.

It could oftentimes be unstable and not properly tested, lacking any changelogs, but eventually evolving into alphas, betas, release candidates, and finally stable releases.

If you're still holding onto your B&N Nook Tablet, you might be excited to know that the aging slate can now run Android 4.2, courtesy of CyanogenMod. The Nook Tablet (codename 'acclaim') got its first taste of CM10.1 nightlies a few days ago, and they've been churning them out on a daily basis since.

At the beginning of March, ASUS became the first company to push Android 4.2 to a non-Nexus device when the update came to the TF300. At the time, the company promised 4.2 for the TF700 and MeMO Pad Smart sometime "in the second quarter." We're now three days into Q2, and ASUS has started pushing the update to the TF700 (Infinity). Talk about delivering on promises.

Look, the TiVo apps may not be the best on the market (their 2.5 star ratings speak pretty loudly), but that hasn't stopped the team from putting together a generous new update for both the phone and tablet apps that brings support for Android 4.2, along with a handful of other new features.

Among those, the Away Mode functionality has been improved, giving users more control while they're on the go. Otherwise, tablet owners now have "a new browsing experience," which includes faster navigation from collection to collection and the ability to publish current authored collections directly to their tablet.

Otherwise, both phone and tablet users can take advantage of Android 4.2 support, as well as some other general bug fixes.
