Google Maps makes crowdsourced Places edits, suggestions, and verifications official

Over the past couple of months, we've monitored several changes to the way crowdsourcing information is handled in Google Maps. Now all of these changes have been made official in a blog post on Google Lat Long's page, adding details about the different features' availability.

First, since May, editing and adding Places has been accessible worldwide. It's available on both the Android and iOS apps, as well as through Google Search. Whether you're viewing an existing listing that has outdated details or you've dropped a pin where there's nothing but you know a listing should exist, you can edit or add those to provide better information for others who might be looking for it.

[Update: T-Mobile too] Sprint's HTC Desire 626s Gets Marshmallow OTA Update

The Desire 626s is a midrange device that HTC announced about a year ago and released a month later in the US. By today's standards, it's even quite low-end with its Snapdragon 210, 1.5GB of RAM, 5" 720p display, and 8MP/2MP camera setup.

Google Messenger v1.9 is installable on Android 7.0 developer previews and restores Wear support [APK Download]

If you're among the crowd that both installs Android developer previews and also owns an Android Wear watch, you've probably noticed some of the apps that belong on your watch have been missing. This happens because the stock apps included with the developer previews are missing the micro-apks for Wear. As the official release of Android 7.0 draws near, Google has been slowly releasing app updates that can install over the stock versions on the developer preview. And as of yesterday's stream of updates, Google Messenger joins that list.

Moto Z DROID, Z Force DROID, and Moto Mods are up for pre-order in the US

We've learned a lot since Lenovo's (this is still a bit difficult to say) Moto Z and Z Force were announced last month. First, that they'd be launching as Verizon exclusives (unlocked versions are scheduled for September), then that they don't have a 3.5mm plug but do come with a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter, and have 2 years of free original quality Google Photos uploads. Pros... and cons. We also heard rumors about the different Moto Mods' pricing, but no date or prices were fully confirmed until today.

As of now, you can pre-order the Moto Z DROID, Moto Z Force DROID, and the Moto Mods from both Motorola's and Verizon's sites. Before you do, you may want to check Ryan's first hands-on impressions of the phones (full review coming later) and David's impressions of the Moto Mods.

WhatsApp adds Voicemail and Call Back options, new Fixedsys font

A few weeks ago, we reported about WhatsApp's plans to add a voicemail-like feature to its voice calls as well as an easy option to call back the person. At the time, all we had were translation strings, but now the feature is live on version 2.16.189 beta (which you can grab from APK Mirror here or by joining the Play Store beta). There are two other small features that were added a few beta versions ago that I'll cover in this post as well.

Voicemail and Call back

After you make a voice call on WhatsApp and your contact either declines the call or it goes unanswered, you will see a new "Call declined" screen with three new round buttons.

The successor to smash-hit Agar.io, Diep.io, has arrived in the Play Store

Miniclip's Agar.io has been a huge success - aside from getting featured in Netflix's House of Cards series, it has had over 50 million downloads from the Play Store alone. What could be thought of as the successor to Agar.io has now arrived on Android: Diep.io, a multiplayer tank game.

Like Agar.io, Diep.io was originally a browser-based game, but has been made available on Android and iOS. The aim of Diep.io is to destroy other players by shooting pellets at them - in my first round I survived for about two minutes before being destroyed. Another way to level-up is to decimate the yellow squares, blue pentagons, and red triangles - ideal cannon fodder and good target practice before taking on other, bigger, more experienced players.

Google explains how Chrome will become WebView in Android 7.0

Android has long provided a way for developers to show web content in apps without implementing a full browser with WebView, but the nature of this component has changed a lot over the years. It became Chromium-powered, was unbundled from the system, and then got a beta channel. Starting in Android 7.0 Nougat, WebView will actually be Chrome.
