If you're a hotel manager, especially at a big, fancy hotel where people can expect to pay a convenience fee for running water, you might be tempted to charge an iniquitous amount of money for your guests to access the Internet. Your guests, in turn, might tell you to suck it and use the Wi-Fi hotspot feature built into just about every new smartphone being sold today. That might make you turn around and consider doing something drastic, like, say, implement an elaborate system of jammers to block or spoof signals and make personal Wi-Fi devices useless.

HTCOneM9renderleak

Evan Blass, better known around these parts as the well-regarded leaker @evleaks, has taken to Twitter (despite being retired) with a leaked thumbnail of what may be renders of the upcoming HTC One M9. We've seen purported images of HTC's next flagship surface already, but word on the street says these were dummy shells the manufacturer produced while developing the device (here's what Blass himself has to say on the matter).

ZTEBladeS6-Thumb

ZTE has announced the Blade S6, a mid-range handset boasting a 5-inch screen and a physical design that, while hardly original, still looks slick. The 4G LTE-enabled device should handle lightweight use just fine thanks to its Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor and Adreno 405 GPU. With Android 5.0, 2GB of RAM, and a 13MP rear-facing camera (5MP on the front), it's packing enough to hopefully keep buyers happy, especially considering its $249.99 price tag.

The Nexus 6 is a very expensive phone compared to the last few Nexus devices. However, it also makes fewer compromises. If you are close to pulling the trigger now that supply is starting to (kind of) catch up with demand, T-Mobile has a deal going that might push you over the edge—it's brought back the $48 discount code for both storage options.

When it comes to storing files on your mobile device, having a 128GB microSD card is the Holy Grail. It's the easiest way to store all the things without having to worry about staying in range of Wi-Fi or burning through limited data allotments. So it's with that in mind that I direct your eyes over to TigerDirect.com. The site is currently offering a 128 microSD card for 79.99, down from $129.99 after instant savings.

Sony has been releasing new flagship smartphones every 6-8 months recently, but that comes at a cost. Now the Nikkei business daily says Sony is planning to scale back its workforce. After cutting 1000 employees in October, Sony is expected to announce a new round of 1000 job cuts in the smartphone division to be completed by March of next year.

Feedly-Thumb

With its latest feature, Feedly is going after Google. The company has introduced Power Search, an improvement to its searching mechanism that's reserved for pro accounts. It lets you search for content around the web that isn't saved in your feed without having to fire up a separate tab.

Power search can pull up articles, podcasts, and videos alike. It displays the articles within the usual interface, effectively letting you read stories from outside your list of subscriptions as though you were already following them.

Twitter

Twitter is preparing to roll out two new features today in the form of group direct messaging and in-line video recording and editing. The group DMs are new for Twitter, but that video thing looks an awful lot like Vine.
