There is an upcoming Android version for Middle-earth: Shadow of War, and you can pre-register for it today on the Google Play Store. It looks like it will be your standard free-to-play hero collection RPG with plenty of gacha mechanics. You can undoubtedly expect to collect and upgrade countless characters from the Lord of the Rings franchise, all while being tasked with the job of overthrowing Sauron. Samsung reports record operating profits in Q2 2017 of $12.67 billion

Samsung's early estimates of its Q2 earnings pointed to record earnings, and the newly released final numbers confirm it. Samsung, which had to recall one of its most important phones less than a year ago, had an operating profit of $12.67 billion (14.4 trillion Korean won) in Q2. That's slightly higher than the estimate from early this month.

Behold Studios has just released Galaxy of Pen & Paper onto the Play Store. It costs $4.99, and there are no advertisements or in-app purchases. While many may remember the fiasco that Paradox Interactive created when converting Knights of Pen & Paper 2 to a free-to-play game, I would like to make it clear that Galaxy of Pen & Paper is being handled by the original developer of the series. That is right, Behold Studios is back behind the reins and have adamantly stated that Galaxy of Pen & Paper will stay a premium priced game.

Archos releases source code for its 'famous' video player

Archos has tried its hand at making various cheap, media-focused Android tablets, none of which were very good. It eventually released a version of its video player app on the Play Store, where it garnered a few million downloads. Samsung Pay could soon be available on non-Samsung phones

It's been a busy year for Samsung's mobile payments system. While the Korean company has continued to add new regions, it has also introduced PayPal integration and Visa Checkout compatibility in the US. Samsung has also made the service available for more of its budget handsets in the form of a stripped down version called Samsung Pay Mini, where before it could only be used on high-end Galaxy phones. Apparently, Samsung doesn't want to stop there and now wants to bring its payments app to other non-Samsung Android phones.

Finally, Bethesda's storied Elder Scrolls series is available on Android! Sort of. If you were hoping to romp through Skyrim or one of the older open world RPGs that PC and console players love, well, keep hoping. The Elder Scrolls: Legends is a card battle game, like Magic: The Gathering, Hearthstone, or any of the hundreds of similar titles in the Play Store. At the moment it's in pre-release (beta), but it's listed as compatible with both phones and tablets running Android 4.0 and higher.

Multiple Google Home users are reporting issues with Philips Hue light bulbs

A number of users are having difficulties controlling their Philips Hue light bulbs via Google Home, the help forum for which is brimming with activity on the subject. The problem seems to manifest itself when trying to turn the lights on and off with a voice command, which leads the Google Assistant to respond with, "Sorry I can't do that, I'm learning every day."
