Memory Card App Storage Support (Apps2SD) Coming To Android ‘Soon’

Utilizing SD cards for the storage of apps has undoubtedly been one of the biggest feature requests of Android since the G1 was released, with users being limited to the internal storage capacity of their devices to install applications on. Fortunately, Google have finally addressed the issue, and an update may not be too far away.

A post on Issue 1151 yesterday by a Google representative confirmed that the feature was ‘coming soon’ to Android devices, although no exact information was divulged at the time.

Sprint Evo 4G Spotted At Florida Store – Did The ‘Free’ Price Give The Photographer A Seizure?

What have we here: it looks like a user over at the ppcgeeks forums has nabbed himself a picture of an Evo 4G sitting pretty at a corporate Sprint store in Florida. Granted the picture is so blurry that it looks more like a Jackson Pollack painting than a spy-shot, but we’ll take what we can get.

Of course, with pictures like this, you always want to take things with a grain of salt - the blurrier the shot is, the easier it is to hide any digital alterations and in this case, there are plenty of reasons to doubt the veracity of this image:

  • It’s low quality
  • The forum poster has since removed it
  • It was posted on a forum to begin with
  • It was hanging out in a store, yet there’s not even a release date?

Detailed Preview/Review Of The Official Android Dropbox Client Beta

For those unaware, Dropbox.com is an online file storage service that gives users a free account to store up to 2GB of files.

As you install the client software on other systems, your files become instantly accessible, providing a very convenient way to share data between home, work, and mobile devices (an official iPhone client was released on September 29, 2009).

You can pay for additional storage if 2GB isn’t enough, or you can refer others to Dropbox which will give you an additional 250MB per user, up to an additional 8GB.

[Updated With Our Review] Twitter Releases Official Android App, Kicks All Other Twitter App Devs Where It Hurts

It was rumored for a long time that Twitter would be releasing an app for Android. Well the wait has ended as Twitter’s official app was finally released a few minutes ago and is available on the Android market right now for free.

While this is great news at first, there is a catch - it is only for Android 2.1 and above. Anyone with 2.0 or lower will have to stick with their current Twitter app and wait till 2.1 hits their phones (I'm looking at you, Hero users).

Android 2.1 Ported To G1 and MyTouch 3G By Cyanogen

Early Android adopters will soon be able to use Android 2.1 on the G1 and MyTouch 3G thanks to Cyanogen, with the release of CyanogenMod 5.0.7.

The latest version of the ROM should be available to users in no time at all, with a public beta arriving at some point today according to Cyanogen’s tweet:

Cyanogen Android 2.1 on G1 and MyTouch 3G tweet

Some compromises may need to be made to allow Android 2.1 to fit on the G1 and MyTouch 3G due to limited available space on the devices - in fact, this is what is causing the delay before the release is live.
