While Galaxy S4 pre-orders are already well underway for most other carriers, Verizon joins the party today – fashionably late as usual. You can get the 16GB version of Samsung's newest flagship on the country's largest provider of LTE for $200 – but you'll have to wait until May 30th to actually get the device in your hands. That's basically a full month later than most other carriers. Par for the course in Verizonland, though.
Samsung is facing some difficulties in getting its newest flagship phone into the hands of its U.S. customers. T-Mobile and Sprint have both reported that they will need to push back retail and online availability of the device. T-Mobile will now begin selling the phone on April 29th via its website, though the company has not confirmed when it will be available in stores. Here's the carrier's full statement:
Sprint Galaxy SIII owners fire up your "check now" fingers – you'll be getting a software update to version L710VPBMD4 soon, bringing a home screen security fix and a few other changes.
Specifically, the update – slated to start rolling out April 24 – brings Multi-View functionality (by which you can split the screen for multi-tasking purposes), enhancements to the camera and gallery apps, the addition of Samsung's Paper Artist photo editing app, and unspecified bulk SMS enhancements.
The last Galaxy S4 eBay Daily Deal we posted was sold out within minutes of posting, so move quick if you're considering an unlocked Galaxy S4 - it's back on eBay Daily Deals for $740, $40 more than previously. This may not sound like a 'deal,' but most sites are still taking pre-orders for this version of the S4, and many are charging $900 or more for the device. This eBay Daily Deal gets your S4 shipped out in the next week.
V-Moda has been climbing the accessory maker charts lately with stylish (if divisive) designs for headphones and phone cases. The company's first foray into Android is the METALLO case for the Galaxy S III. The all-metal design (probably high-density aluminum) is unique, changing the shape of the phone and making it dockable with an extra amplifier/battery pack accessory. It's also one of the more expensive case options out there, starting at $101 for the frame, backplate and screen protector.
Update: Some early pre-order folks are saying their devices are supposed to arrive on the 25th. It might only be newer pre-orders that are going out on the 30th.
If you're planning to pick up Samsung's latest and greatest on AT&T's LTE network the instant it's available, start checking your email for tracking numbers on April 30th. That's when pre-orders for the Galaxy S 4 will begin going out to customers.
If you've finally decided that pre-ordering Sprint's variant of the Galaxy S4 is the right move for your mobile life, you're in for a less-than-ideal surprise: it's already sold out directly from The Now Network. Sadface.
But before you get too sad, we've some good news: it's now available for pre-order from Amazon Wireless! Happyface. You'll find that AW has the same pricing structure as Sprint, so it'll set you back $150 if you're switching networks, and $250 if you're simply upgrading.
Update: Well, that was fast – looks like they only had 200 to sell, and they're already gone. Stick a fork in this one – it's done!
If you've been waiting for the day when you can grab the Exynos Octa-powered version of the Galaxy S4, today's it. The Galaxy S4 I9500 just showed up on eBay's Daily Deals site for the smoking hot price of $700 – that's $100 less than any other retailer is letting this monster go for.
If you happened to miss out on the chance to get last year's flagship for $380 when it hit eBay's Daily Deals site earlier this month, it's back again. While the GSIII may not be the hottest phone money can buy any more, it's still a very capable handset that will likely continue to be well supported by Samsung over the coming months (and then some).
The only "downside" of today's deal is that it's for the blue and black variants only – white and red are already sold out.
