Cyanogen Inc shutting down CyanogenMod nightly builds and other services, CM will live on as Lineage [Updated]

Well, this is it. On December 31, 2016, we will bid adieu to the ambitious but riddled with managerial missteps venture that was Cyanogen. In the ongoing saga of Cyanogen's "reorganization" efforts, we've seen Kirk McMaster being ousted as CEO and replaced by Lior Tal, followed by a modular OS announcement, then we started hearing rumbles of layoffs, office closures, and more, which ended with a rather public finger pointing and break up with Steve Kondik, the guy behind Cyanogen and CyanogenMod.

Some Pixel owners are experiencing random software freezes

Google's trying to market the new Pixel and Pixel XL phones as premium, market-leading devices, and a big part of that is nailing the software experience. Alas, quite a few owners of Google's first-party phones aren't feeling particularly premium as of late: this lengthy discussion on Google's product forum documents a series of as-yet-unexplained software freezes and lockups. Commonalities among the users seem to be a complete freeze of the interface that lasts several seconds to several minutes, including disappearing navigation buttons.

War Commander is a new RTS game from one of the original Command and Conquer creators

There are plenty of "strategy" games on Android, but most of them seem to follow the Clash of Clans formula. That's proven very profitable for developers, and plenty of players certainly like (or at least tolerate) it. Those who yearn for a more engaging RTS are usually left unfulfilled by these games, but now there's War Commander. This new game was developed by one of the founders of Westwood Studios, which created Command and Conquer.

[Deal Alert] Score a movie rental for $0.99 and take 50 percent off any single movie purchase at Google Play Movies (many new releases just $5 with promo)

Winter has been coming for a long time. Now, as of yesterday, it's finally here. For those of us who live in the northern portion of our planet, that means it's freakin' cold! Here in Seattle it's also super wet, dark, and generally just all around miserable (me and Seattle's weather have a love-hate relationship). In other words, perfect weather to stay in and watch a movie on the couch with a warm cup of cider.

Does that sound like a nice idea to you, too? Well, if it does, then read on. Google has two special promotions happening right now, and both of them will lead to a cheaper movie night for you.
