Some of the more cynical game reviewers out there (looking at you, Croshaw) have described the standard RPG as a game where you ultimately push buttons to make the numbers go higher. As dismissive as that position is, we've found a game where it's literally true. Widget RPG is a full role-playing game, complete with non-player characters, equipment inventory, and a battle system. But the only way of interacting with the world around your character is by tapping on a homescreen widget like a maniac.

You know what trend in mobile is easy to make fun of? Wearables, of course. Most smart watches almost make fun of themselves. At some point in the last few weeks, the marketing folks at HTC and Samsung apparently came to very similar conclusions about the best way to lampoon wearables – gloves. Samsung came up with the Samsung Fingers smart glove, but HTC has just pseudo-announced the HTC Gluuv. Same basic joke, different execution.

Samsung may have recently unveiled two smart watches and the Gear Fit, but the manufacturer isn't finished with wearables just yet. Tonight, in a post to Samsung Tomorrow, Samsung unveiled Samsung Fingers, a smart glove with features that truly revolutionize your hand experience.

The device carries a Super Emo-LED display "for the technology-sensitive consumer," and a 16MP camera, along with Wi-Fi connectivity and a boatload of amazing all-over-hand features.

A few days ago, it was confirmed that Google had started asking manufacturers to brand boot animations with a specific "Powered by Android" lockup as part of Google's Mobile Services license. Samsung's Galaxy S5 and HTC's new One M8 both carry the branding, and today Motorola's Moto X and Moto G have joined the party, but Motorola has something else in store as well - a new boot animation just in time for April Fools Day.

We all need a little positive reinforcement now and then, and Google's aiming to give that to you by surfacing a bit of data it's been keeping track of for a few years. If you head to your Google+ profile online, right next to your followers will be the number of views your content has gotten since Google started keeping track in October of 2012.

When it comes to "small" phones sporting 4.3-inch displays, the options are really slim these days. The top options each come with custom UIs, and consumers don't have the luxury of picking up a Google Play Edition of any of them. People who want a zippy stock Android experience on a smaller device that's still relatively powerful are therefore placed in a position to take matters into their own hands. For HTC One Mini (M4) owners, CyanogenMod is now here to help.

Google does its part to celebrate the major US holidays, not to mention quite a few others, but April Fools' Day appears to be its favorite. The company goes all out every year, and it's already looking like 2014 may just be its very best effort yet. In addition to scattering Pokemon all over Maps, Google is now dispersing emoji all throughout Chrome.

The feature is optional, but once enabled, Chrome will replace certain words with emoji.

Chromecast apps are popping up almost faster than we can install them, but let's not forget one of the first apps to show us what the Chromecast was capable of doing. Of course, I'm talking about AllCast. Koush's streaming app has been updated with a few goodies, some of which are still listed as 'beta.'

Texting and driving is a big no-no. We get that. People still do it, but it isn't from the misguided belief that they aren't being risky or, in some places, breaking the law. Yet what about texting and walking? It may not result in unintentional manslaughter (okay, it's much less likely to result in accidental death), but that doesn't mean it's harmless.

In Japan, wireless carrier NTT Docomo has been trying to educate the public on the dangers of walking while having their eyes glued on a mobile device.
