Google apparently thinks you don't have enough ways to search Google on your phone. On my Pixel, I have the Google search 'pill' on the home screen, and Google Assistant if I hold down on the home button or use 'OK Google.' If you have Chrome Dev, you can use a new search widget as well. Read More
I won't blame you if you're confused by the title of this post. I am too and I just wrote it. Samsung just released an app to the Play Store that's called "Tizen App Share." The name Tizen should first raise your eyebrow, because that's Samsung's other operating system, the one it famously runs on its popular Gear smartwatches, but also the one it is developing quasi-silently as a full-blown smartphone OS. The latter part hasn't been very popular, but then again Samsung hasn't put its complete marketing juggernaut weight behind it so it's understandably low key.
So when you read Tizen App Share, you might think it's a new utility to share apps between two Gear watches or between phones and Gear watches or something of the sorts... Read More
The announcement of Verizon's Wear24 smartwatch was a bit unexpected, as there were no rumors about it beforehand. Then the company went silent about it for a while, then said in April that it would go on sale May 11. Well, now it's May 11, and you can actually buy it. Read More
Sony announced the L1 back in March, calling it an affordable device. At the time, Sony kept the lid on pricing and availability, leaving them a mystery. With May almost half over, the Japanese OEM has finally made the budget phone available for sale in the U.S. through Amazon and Best Buy. Read More
We knew changes were incoming for Facebook Messenger after last month's F8 Developer Conference, during which the focus was largely on better discovery of bots and "Chat Extensions" to add those bots into group conversations. Now it seems Facebook is testing new UI changes, including top-level tabs and a games section in the bottom nav bar. Read More
With the Xperia XZ Premium's release date approaching, Sony took to YouTube to release a video highlighting the amazing power of its so-called Motion Eye camera.
The video was shot entirely using the Xperia XZ Premium by journalists at Sony's press event in Lisbon. Directed by film-maker Chris Cairns, 120 smartphones captured the stunning scenes using Sony's new Motion Eye camera system. This camera carries with it astounding specs, including the ability to shoot slow motion video at 960fps. To put that in perspective, Samsung's flagship boasts support for only 240fps. I can't believe I can use the word only in that sentence. Read More
Google is constantly adding little touches to enhance its user experience. For instance, that info card that pops up whenever you search for a famous person gives you quick access to stats like their birthday/age, their height, a quick blurb about what he/she is known for, and more. However, the Mountain View-based company hadn't implemented one for event searches - until now. Given how handy this can be, it's hard to believe this wasn't added earlier. Read More
This one is a huge price drop. Just a few days ago this was $550 on Amazon (although it has been down around $450 a few times, like back at the beginning of April), but right now Huawei's Jewel/Pearl model of their OG smartwatch is $220. Huawei's Android Wear device is one of the best from the last generation. The style might not be for everyone, but the price certainly is. And the deal is at Amazon with no 3rd party seller or code needed. The only disadvantage is a slight delay in shipping. Read More
Yesterday Microsoft launched a new Android app for its cloud computing platform Azure. Administrators using the service will probably find the convenience of being able to check on things with their Android devices helpful. It even provides notifications and alerts in the event of specific problems, making it that much easier for your work to find you at home. Read More
