Guys, we're now three weeks away from the most wonderful time of the year: NBA basketball season. The seasons tips off on October 28th with the Mavs v. Spurs and Magic v. Pelicans, followed by the Rockets in LA to take on the Lakers. The following day it gets even more exciting, as 24 teams go head to head to start the season off right. If you don't want to miss a second of the action, Game Time is the app to have (especially if you're a League Pass subscriber), and it recently got updated with support for the upcoming season.

Tasker is quite possibly the most exciting, boring-looking app in existence. A new user stumbling across its Play Store page is sure to walk away scratching their heads, but it only takes reading a few blog posts to realize that there's more to this piece of software than the screenshots would suggest. Out of the box, it's capable of giving users more control over their Android devices than any single other app, but there are no shortage of plugins out there that still manage to crank things up to the next level.

Update: As pointed out by several commenters, this option has been there for a while, but appeared new to many of us, including me (my screenshot of the old Google+ app's Folders section that I posted in the original article shows that the cloud icon wasn't visible to me). I reinstalled the old Google+ app to make sure I wasn't missing anything and upon further investigation, figured out the problem. If, like me, you had the "Backup local folders" option unticked, your folder list didn't offer any cloud on/off icon and you would not have known that selective backup was a possibility.

About a week ago we told you about a Hulu Plus promotion that gives new Chromecast owners two months of access to the premium portion of the streaming library for free. As it turns out, anyone in the US can get that sweet, sweet streaming video, no matter when they bought their Chromecast. AP reader Matthew discovered that he could follow the instructions for redeeming the offer on his older Chromecast without any kind of issues.

Another year, another companion app to another installment in an annual sports series. This time we're taking a look at NBA 2K15. No, it's not 2015 yet, but this is a sports thing. As in this will presumably be what you're using throughout most of next year, since it's coming out at the end of this one. I know most of you are rolling your eyes right now, but there is surely one person reading this who was confused, and I'm looking them straight in the eyes right now.

All dogs are time travellers. On a technical level, anyway: they move around through three dimensions while progressing through the fourth at a constant rate. But the charming hero of the adventure game Doggins has one less dimension to travel through, so he makes up for his 2D affliction by blasting himself backwards in time. If you want to see how (not to mention why) you'll have to play the game, now available for four bucks on the Play Store.

Chinese smartphone manufacturer ZTE still hasn't made a dent in the US market in any significant way, but it did turn heads with the ZMAX for T-Mobile, combining a big 5.7-inch screen and a spacious battery with a low price tag. The new Grand X Max, coming to budget carrier Cricket on October 10th, is even bigger and cheaper. This massive 6-inch phone will pack a beefy 3200mAh battery, all for just $199.99 without a contract.

I'm quite cynical about OnePlus as a company, but I have to admit that I've heard a lot of praise for their phone from everyone who has tried it despite its many bugs and issues. However, there's one less reason for everyone to complain now, since the XNPH38R OTA update has started rolling out in stages according to an announcement on the OnePlus Forums.

After XNPH33R, which fixed many of the phone's issues in August, XNPH38R brings a slew of new features and most importantly, solves the One's glaring touchscreen problem.

With a big OTA expected to hit Android Wear devices starting around October 15th, Google has just published what might be a preparatory update for the Android Wear companion app. Taking the app up to version 1.0.2, the update adds about 3MB to the APK's file size. Google hasn't published a change log quite yet, but we can already tell from a cursory teardown that the new version brings with it an update to Google Play Services for Wearables (a package sent to the watch from the app) - version 6.1.11 (up from 5.0.91).
