Almost a month ago, lucky HTC Legend owners on Vodaphone UK began receiving their Android 2.2 (Froyo) OTA updates. Surprisingly, carrier independent Legend variants, which would normally get updated first, were instead left behind.

Today, HTC finally let everyone in on the party and announced Froyo availability for all Legends:

Rumorama: HTC To Boost AT&T’s Android Line-Up With The Aria?

Skeptic hats on for this one, folks. The gents over at Phonedog are reporting that they have inside information on an upcoming HTC Android phone slated to hit AT&T, dubbed the Aria.

ariafcc

Details are sparse, but the phone will supposedly be running HTC’s SenseUI skin and be powered by Android 2.1 which is a bit of a bummer, though HTC has previously announced that all phones launched this year should receive an update to 2.2, so that’s promising.

It’s been speculated that the phone is the HTC PC70110, which passed through the FCC in late April with AT&T 3G bands.

HTC Admits It Will Miss 90-Day Lollipop Upgrade Window For One M7 And M8

HTC promised to get Android 5.0 Lollipop through the approval process and out to the HTC One M7 and M8 in the US no later than 90 days after release. US product manager Mo Versi even officially started the timer when Lollipop was delivered by Google. Now Versi says that won't happen after all.

Leaked HTC One M9 Renders Surface, This Time Courtesy Of @evleaks

Evan Blass, better known around these parts as the well-regarded leaker @evleaks, has taken to Twitter (despite being retired) with a leaked thumbnail of what may be renders of the upcoming HTC One M9. We've seen purported images of HTC's next flagship surface already, but word on the street says these were dummy shells the manufacturer produced while developing the device (here's what Blass himself has to say on the matter). This leaves room for these latest leaks to still be the real deal.

It's the thumbnail on the right.

Let's address the obvious here first. There are two devices here.

Official TWRP Builds Now Available For HTC One M7 Dual-SIM, US Cellular LG G3, And LG Optimus Fuel

ROM flashers and root fanatics who own a few more obscure Android devices have new options this morning. Official, straight from the source builds of the ubiquitous Team Win Recovery Project custom recovery are now available for the unlocked, dual-SIM card version of the HTC One M7, the carrier-customized version of the LG G3 for US Cellular, and the LG Optimus Fuel. Wait, the what? Let me check my notes... yup, says right here, "Optimus Fuel."

Not ringing any bells here.

The One M7 and G3 variants should be pretty self-explanatory, but the Optimus Fuel is so uninteresting it flew under Android Police radar when it was released for the Tracfone budget carrier way back in June of this year.

[Not Lollipop] HTC One M7 Getting OTA, Makes Phone Calls A Better Experience

Some HTC One M7 variants appear to be getting a new OTA update. As for what's new, apparently not much. All we know is that it contains "important enhancements and bug fixes related to improving phone call experience," and that it isn't Lollipop.

htc_one_update

The update is version 6.09.401.11, and weighs in at a fairly hefty 193.01 MB, so whatever was changed must involve some somewhat substantial code modifications. The update also keeps the M7 on Android 4.4.3/KitKat. On the surface, this OTA appears to be for non-US models, so customers in the States probably shouldn't bother spamming that "check now" button.

Verizon Wireless Adding The HTC Desire 612 To Its Lineup October 9th

The HTC Desire 610 marked a revival for the "Desire" brand in the US when it came to AT&T in late July. Now a variant, the Desire 612, is finding its way to Verizon Wireless, as the carrier will start selling the handset in just two days. Think of it as largely the same as the version on AT&T, just with more branding and extra red.

HTC-Desire_1024x640

The HTC Desire 612 is meant to be an affordable mid-range device. It has a 4.7-inch screen with a 960 by 540 display. It's not going to be particularly impressive, but for the price point, it's serviceable.

Several Leaks Of The 'HTC Desire Eye' Show A Big 13MP Front-Facing Camera Complete With LED Flash

HTC is set to unveil some new hardware at a New York City event on Wednesday. The company itself has already given us some clues to a GoPro-style sports camera (including a couple of unintended product images), and a few less reliable sources claim there will be a phone with a 13-megapixel Duo camera. This weekend the Twitter leak account @Upleaks showed some images of an alleged "HTC Desire Eye," a phone that embraces the selfie craze (ugh) in a big way.

Disclaimer: No matter the confidence level, there's always a chance product updates, features, and some or all details will be changed or cancelled altogether.

HTC's Nexus 9 Appears To Have Passed Through The FCC

Nexus season is in full swing, and as rumors and leaks continue to pile up around Motorola's Nexus 6 (Shamu), we've been wondering when more news might emerge about Volantis (or Flounder, or T1, take your pick) - HTC's 9" Nexus tablet that we first learned of back in spring.

As Blog of Mobile reports, it looks like the Nexus 9 has passed through the FCC for certification, with the relevant documents becoming available just yesterday. The relevant model number for the tablet that passed through the FCC is 0P82100, widely reported to belong to HTC's 9" Nexus.

Indeed, the confidential letter attached to the FCC documents in question is from HTC Corporation (dated June 23, 2014), and the product is classified as a tablet.

Update 10/4/14: The price has now dropped another $35 to a very low $214.99. The phones are still available in black and silver, while blue is sold out.

2014-10-04_10-27-58

If you need a great phone and aren't interested in a contract, but you're willing to compromise on what's technically the cutting edge, you're in a good position to save a bit of money. For example, take this perfectly good 32GB HTC One M7 (that's the one before the one they're selling now). If you're OK with a refurbished phone, you can pick up a white or black one from eBay for $249.99, well below the retail price.
