Update: If you've been holding your breath waiting for this beauty, you can breathe a sigh of relief, as it's now available at RadioShack. Woot.

Could the EVO 3D on Sprint get even better? Well, sure - it could use a bit of Ice Cream Sandwich, but we'll remain realistic for the time being and take RadioShack's exclusive white version instead. The new sleeker, more gorgeous than ever EVO 3D variant will be coming September 9th, as outed by a screenshot posted by RadioShack's own Twitter account.

I am going to be honest - I am not a fan of phone cases myself. However, knowing my wife's affinity for miraculously sending her phones flying into the back yard from our 2nd story balcony or stomping on them with her shoes after they hit the asphalt (though her previous phone, the Palm Pre, didn't live to tell its story after drowning in our dog's water bowl), I set out on a mission to find the best protective case for her new and shiny EVO 3D.

EVO 3D

HTC has an above-average track record with software updates, but they appear to have misstepped with the most recent PRL version for the EVO 3D. For some unfathomable reason, said PRL (version number 50580) seems to be blocking Sprint's 3G network for a lot of users; as a result, they are left with no choice but to rely on the considerably slower 1xRTT technology (2G) for data.

Fortunately, there's still hope for those who unknowingly applied PRL 50580 - simply revert to the previous PRL (21081) using the instructions at Good and EVO.

HTC has been steadily making good on its promise to unlock the bootloader of its more recent models -- first came the EU Sensation, followed by the EVO 3D. Continuing along this same path, today HTC updated the unlock portal on HTCdev.com to include the T-Mobile variant of the Sensation.

Keep in mind that if you plan on making use of this process that it will likely void your warranty, so tread with caution.

Following the European Sensation and this morning's EVO 3D's updates to Android 2.3.4, which, among other things, brought bootloader unlocking capabilities to both devices, T-Mobile just announced that the Sensation 4G is now receiving the 2.3.4 update as well. The update (software version 1.45.531.1) brings the following changes to the device:

The update to Android 2.3.4 / software version 1.45.531.1 has the following features and improvements.

New Features

    • Software stability
    • Improved battery life

    Improvements

      • Improvements to Trace dictionary
      • Improvements to screen responsiveness
      • Improvements to video playback
      • Improvements  regarding device reboot / power off
      • Improvements to icon  pixilation
      • Improvements to Wi-Fi connection
      • Improvements to screen/photo resolution

I'm willing to bet that the update also brings bootloader unlocking, just as soon as HTC opens up the flood gates over at HTCDev.com's bootloader unlock page.

Keeping with its tradition of addressing software issues in a timely fashion, HTC just started pushing out a minor bug-fixing update for the EVO 3D. The update (version number 2.08.651.2) began its rollout this morning and should be available to all EVO 3D owners by 8/23.

This is hardly a game-changing update, but it does iron out some potentially irksome kinks (Update: and brings native screenshots, just like on the European Sensation - just hold the Power button and tap Home!):

Additionally, the Samsung Conquer 4G will be receiving a security patch (EG15) on the day it launches (8/21), so if you're planning on picking one up, be prepared to update it as soon as you take it out of the box.

Earlier today, HTC sent a jolt of electricity through our tired bodies when their PR agency told us an exciting tale of important announcements scheduled to be delivered by Peter Chou himself (that's HTC's CEO) tomorrow morning.

Bootloader unlocking, exciting new phones and tablets, hoverboards - all of these thoughts started rapidly running through our minds, but like kids who couldn't wait until Christmas to unwrap their presents, the company first spilled the beans to AllThingsD, then followed up mere hours later with full details.

The HTC dev site, HTCDev.com, announced in early June, opened its doors a few minutes ago to welcome developers from all over the globe into the wonderful world of what HTC is calling OpenSense. OpenSense is a collection of APIs, which currently includes Stereoscopic 3D, Pen, and Common Controls. Developers can download the OpenSense SDK, and view sample code together with handy API docs.

In addition to the OpenSense framework, HTCDev.com is also a new home for all HTC kernel source and ROM update downloads, various FAQs, and, probably the most interesting bit - the Bootloader Unlock tool (coming soon).

Skysoft... errr, I mean Skype updated its previously measly Android device support from 5 devices to more than 20 today with the introduction of version 2.1 of its Android app. There are no new features outside of expanded device support, which was badly needed in order for the app to climb out of the sea of 1-star reviews (although stability and quality improvements would have made today's release even sweeter).

Earlier this month HTC released details about their roll-out plans for its bootloader unlock process and the devices that would be supported. Today, in answer to some of the questions posed by HTC’s Facebook fans, HTC released an update on how the bootloader unlocking process will actually work and why HTC’s newest phones are still shipping with a locked bootloader.

As mentioned in their earlier post, HTC is continuing to make every effort to release OTA software updates within the month to enable unlocking of the HTC Sensation followed soon by the HTC Sensation 4G and the HTC EVO 3D.
