[Initial Impressions] Google Glass Explorer Edition - I Feel Like Tony Stark [Video]

My Google Glass unit has finally arrived. I've had a few days to play with Google's fancy new heads-up display, so it's probably time for some first impressions. A full review will be coming at some point.

One of the most striking things about Glass is just how well put together the whole package is. Everything about the design, from the hardware, to the typography, to the cool little whoosh noises it makes just oozes polish. What's here is certainly not finished, but even in this state it is easily the slickest product Google has ever produced. Glass feels like the culmination of the new, design-focused Google.

Ship Just Got Real: Leviathan Warships Hits The Play Store, Available For Most Tablets

About three weeks ago, Paradox Interactive released what could possibly be one of the best game trailers we've ever seen. It was for its then-upcoming game Leviathan Warships, and was chock-full of more ship puns than you can shake a stick at.

In fact, it was so good they decided to release a second trailer, with even more puns.

If you've had enough puns (I'm kidding – there's no such things as too many puns) and are ready to actually play the game, it's now available in the Play Store. The second trailer above notes a price of $10, but it's listed for $4.88 right now – most likely a launch sale price.

If you've longed for the abstract and ambient world of strategy game Auralux, but don't have a Tegra-powered device, good news is afoot: the most recent update adds support for non-Tegra devices. Exciting, no?

That's not all, either – it also brings a new level pack "where you invade enemy territory," one new free level, full gamepad and Shield support, and an "important stability [fix] on Nexus 7 devices." 

All in all, this is a pretty good update, especially for those who haven't yet gotten the opportunity to play the game in the first place. The game is a free download in the Play Store, but you'll have to fork over some cash for extra levels.

AOKP's New Homepage Has More Swagger Than A Drunken Unicorn

If you haven't checked out AOKP.co for a while, we couldn't blame you. The old homepage for the Android Open Kang Project ROM and Team Kang left something to be desired - namely, a new homepage. The wraps are off of the latest adjustment to the AOKP site, and wow, they've really done something with the place. In addition to a ton of new features accessible from the get-go, the entire page has been given a swag-worthy 80s makeover that might just be described as "awesome, awesome to the max."

The Android world was slapped in the face when well-known developer AndreiLux made a post in the XDA Galaxy S4 forum titled [Info] Rooting will be impossible on newer stock kernels.

His post has caused some unwarranted drama in the community, and I wish to set this subject straight as much as I can. AndreiLux is pointing out a new feature in Samsung Galaxy S4 kernel called CONFIG_SEC_RESTRICT_SETUID.

evleaks Posts Photo Of Unknown LG Handset – 'G2? Just A Guess…'

If there's one thing that never goes out of style in the Android community, it's rumors. Oh, and leaks. Around Google I/O and "Nexus season," leaks and rumors abound. Some Nexus-related, some … not. Today, one of tech's most prolific leaksters, evleaks, let loose an image of an unspecified LG handset. Posting to Facebook, evleaks asked "G2? Just a guess…" as speculations began whirling.

The device, which has an undeniably sparse front side (of which the most interesting aspect is the speaker grill), bears all the normal sensors, no hardware keys or buttons, a huge screen, small bezels, and a sheet of glass that appears to feature a comfortable (yet subtle) curve on all sides.

Paranoid Android Halo Alpha Builds For The Nexus 4, Nexus 7/3G, Galaxy Nexus (GSM), And Oppo Find 5 Are Out For Testing

Paranoid Android made headlines last week when it announced a new take on mutitasking called Halo. While the feature wasn't available for user testing at the time, the team has now pushed out early alpha builds for the Nexus 4, Nexus 7, Nexus 7 3G, GSM Galaxy Nexus, and Oppo Find 5.

This is still a "very early build" of the ROM, so expect bugs, crashes, and other odd side-effects that come along with using alpha software; in other words, don't expect to use this as a daily driver.

Still, the PA team claims to be about halfway through its Halo implementation, as it has broken integration into three phases: rewriting the framework, getting Halo performing its basic functions, and allowing notification-switching directly through the Halo interface.
