Like many technophiles, I have a soft spot for wireless audio gear. While cord-free is moving in the direction of Wi-Fi and mesh networks at home, the world of portable gear still belongs to Bluetooth. Earbuds, headphones, portable speakers - they're all different, and so far none I've tested are perfect. Once I find the perfect one in each category, I'll be sure to let you know.

A few months ago, I reviewed the MEElectronics Air-Fi AF32 - a full-size over-the-ear set of wireless headphones that ended up scoring surprisingly well while at the same time not breaking the bank.

The Meizu MX 4-Core is a truly interesting phone. And as an extention of that, Meizu itself is an interesting company. Founded by Jack Wong, it gained international notoriety when its M8 smartphone drew unwelcome comparisons to Apple's iPhone, particularly from Apple's lawyers, resulting in an early end to its production run.

Meizu claims to be fully vertically integrated - manufacturing, marketing, and selling its phones, a start-to-finish philosophy that results in decreased overhead and more control over its products (it should be noted that Meizu does not actually make all of the components in its phones, however).

kindlefire

We've got a bunch of deals for you folks today! To start things off right, refurbished Kindle Fires are currently available from eBay Daily Deals for a mere $140. The Amazon-branded slate, as you will no doubt recall, was one of the hottest selling Android-branded tablets prior to the advent of the Nexus 7. While both tablets are priced to ship, the Kindle Fire is the closest to impulse-buy we've ever seen it.

Welcome back to the Android Police Week In Review, which is getting published slightly late this week because hey, the matinee screening of The Dark Knight Rises was cheaper. Don't forget, you can hear a lot of this over the course of an hour instead of 10 minutes in our podcast.

If you were hoping to see a phablet device like the Samsung Galaxy Note on Verizon, Big Red's upcoming device is going to technically fit the bill. Except instead of the enjoyable, well designed, and globally acclaimed device, you will get this horrendous boxy eyesore, complete with a 4:3 CRT-like aspect ratio: the LG Optimus Vu.

Here it is, in all its glory monstrosity, next to... yup, the 4.8" Galaxy S III.

While some users were able to connect to Sprint's LTE network over the weekend, the official rollout has just begun. The Now Network started with 15 initial markets, including:

  • Atlanta, Ga.
  • Athens, Ga.
  • Calhoun, Ga.
  • Carrollton, Ga.
  • Newnan, Ga.
  • Rome, Ga.
  • Dallas
  • Fort Worth, Texas
  • Granbury-Hood County, Texas
  • Houston
  • Huntsville, Texas
  • San Antonio, Texas
  • Waco, Texas
  • Kansas City, Mo.-Kan.
  • St. Joseph, Mo.

Don't expect the break-neck speeds of Verizon or AT&T's respective LTE networks, however: Sprint is only promising a paltry 6-8Mbps down and 2-3Mbps up with bursts up to 25Mbps.

Today, Samsung posted an official demo video of some of Galaxy S III's more advanced features, such as Smart Stay, S Voice, Smart Alert, Direct Call, and social tagging. Ironically, while showcasing just how intelligent the phone is, we are treated to the following hilarious answer by S Voice:

Hey, it's 18 degrees Fahrenheit in Los Angeles! That's -8 Celsius. In May. Look what you've done, Sammy - now we're going to need to edit Wikipedia to amend the previous record of 24F from 1944.
