Samsung Pay App Arrives In The Play Store For The Four Already Compatible Devices

Since launch, users have been able to download the Samsung Pay app from Samsung's own dedicated app store. But since enough people aren't aware that place exists, the app inevitably must make it to Google Play as well. And here it is.

Play Store availability doesn't open the app to any more devices than before. Samsung Pay remains a Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+, and Note 5 exclusive.

[Heated Fight] After OnePlus' Jab At Samsung, Meizu Copies A Page From The Same Book And Offers To Swap A OnePlus 2 For A Free Meizu Pro 5

For a company that sells so few phones, OnePlus sure knows how to make the biggest noise with the smallest thing it does. Building on controversies propelled it to the top of many tech news cycles, but it seems that its marketing department has calmed down a little lately. The latest trick to come out of it is #TakeTheEdgeOff, a swap offer for Samsung owners. It sounds compellingly obnoxious, except that on the OnePlus scale of crazy, it's a moderately bland jab.

They're not asking you to destroy your phone, but to donate it to a charity. And not everyone can get involved, only 50 "winners" will be selected, though I'm not sure winner is the proper term when you're exchanging a Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+, or Note 5, for a OnePlus 2.

Samsung's Game Tuner App (For S6, S6e, S6e+, Note 5) Is An Awesome Way To Scale Any Game's Resolution And FPS

A truly useful piece of software? From Samsung? Color me surprised, too, but the company's new Game Tuner app is nothing short of incredibly handy for mobile gamers. As you may well know, playing visually-intensive games on your smartphone can demolish the battery fairly quickly. While most such games render at 1080p even on 2K displays like Samsung's, such resolutions can be big draws on both your remaining juice and your device's processor, causing throttling (and thus slowdowns) and excessive power drain. Samsung's new app lets you have a say in just how graphically hungry those games will be, allowing you to adjust maximum frame rate and resolution scaling.

Verizon Confirms Samsung Pay Is Coming In A Future Software Update

Verizon was previously noncommittal about supporting Samsung's contactless payment solution, but the carrier has now confirmed on Twitter that Samsung Pay is coming. When? No one knows, but it will be delivered as part of a future software update. We all know how good Verizon is at getting software updates out in a timely fashion.

Moto X Pure Edition (2015) Review: A Great Phone For A Great Price

The original Moto X was a modestly sized phone with modest specs, but it's gotten more powerful and bigger each year. Now, the third-generation Moto X is a true phablet with flagship specs, but the price is still quite reasonable. After experimenting with carrier exclusives and subsidies, the company is going it alone with the new Moto X Pure Edition (AKA the Moto X Style outside the US).

This phone starts at $399 and is not being sold through any carriers. It still has Moto Maker customizations, and some of Motorola's past shortcomings have been addressed. So, has Motorola finally hit one out of the park, or is it overshadowed by more expensive phones?

Slickwraps Gets Its Dark Side On With The Star Wars-Themed Galactic Series For Samsung, LG, Nexus, And HTC Flagships

Are you excited to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Have you taken out a second mortgage to pay for all the new action figures, LEGO sets, Millennium Falcon quadcopters, and a tiny army of BB-8 Sphero droids? And do you still have about twenty-five bucks left over? Then you might want to check out the latest licensed phone decals from Slickwraps, starring none other than Darth Vader and Stormtrooper #5. According to the official Empire Strikes Back Annotated Companion, his name was Martoona Chumscrubly and he once served Obi-Wan a Coke in the Mos Eisley Cantina before being press-ganged onto a Star Destroyer, getting a mild burn from a stray laser blast delivered by Han Solo, and retiring with disability pay to another galaxy with less obsessive lore.

[App Roundup] Our Top Seven Picks For The Best New Apps Of September 2015

There's no nice way to say this: interesting and new apps were a bit thin on the ground in September. Maybe it was the double-threat of new announcements from both Google and Apple that scared off developers, or maybe they're all hung up on ancient Green Day lyrics. Either way, things were looking pretty sparse, but we still managed to find a few interesting tidbits for you. Here are our top seven and a few honorable mentions.

AmpMe Turns Multiple Phones Into Speakers For Your Music: How It Works And How It Compares To SoundSeeder

The idea of using multiple phones as speakers to play the same music isn't new. It was popularized by Samsung's Group Cast way back in the Galaxy S3 days and has since gotten over that proprietary requirement thanks to third-party apps like SoundSeeder that made it possible to tune Android devices together, regardless of their brand. As a newcomer in the field, AmpMe has a lot to prove against tough and established competition. The app manages a few victories thanks to cross-platform compatibility, but loses in terms of services supported. For now, that's only SoundCloud, although the developers say more are coming.

DxOMark Ranks The Sony Xperia Z5's Camera As The Best On A Smartphone Yet

Well it was nice while it lasted. Just one day after DxOMark said the Nexus 6P's camera was second only to the Galaxy S6 Edge, it has declared a new phone at the top. The title now goes to the Sony Xperia Z5.

The Xperia Z5 is set to hit the market soon with a 5.2 inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 810 chip, 3GB of RAM, and Android 5.1. But what is most relevant here is that 23MP camera on the back, which can capture 5520 by 4120 images. Sony is well known for its camera technology, and it looks like the Xperia Z5 doesn't disappoint.
