[Deal Alert] Unlocked LG V10 On Sale For $449.99 Via eBay

The LG G5 hasn't really lived up to expectations, and the price is up there. If that phone isn't doing it for you, but you have a hankering for a removable battery, the LG V10 might be the phone for you. It has similar hardware to the G4, but it's bigger with sturdier construction, and there's that second display. It's not usually a cheap phone, but the unlocked version is on sale today for $449.99 on eBay.

Microsoft Translator Inches Ever Closer To Google Translate With New Image Translate And System-Wide Translation On Marshmallow

When it first launched last summer, Microsoft Translator had some potential but a lot of catch-up to do with Google's own Translate. No offline mode, no natural conversation mode, no Android Wear app, and many other missing features made me refrain from recommending it when I compared it against Translate. But Microsoft has been updating its app, bridging the gap with each new version, adding all of these features and more like Klingon support and a kickass Android Wear integration. The only major capability that was still missing from Translator's arsenal was image translation and that's finally here.

Version 2.16.82, which is already live in the Play Store (and on APK Mirror) can load images, automatically detect languages, and overlay the translation into the language of your choice on top of each element.

Facebook Messenger Now Has Group Call Feature, Global Rollout Has Started

Facebook's been making some big improvements to Messenger recently, and the latest is no different: group calling is coming, with the global rollout having started yesterday on both iOS and Android. As is now usual with Messenger, the web app (on both facebook.com and messenger.com) will probably get the update at some point in the future.

Group calling works as you'd expect: tap on a group chat and, if the feature has rolled out to you yet, there will be a phone icon in the app bar. Tap this and it will bring up a dialogue asking who you'd like to include in the group call.

Benson Leung Won't Recommend The HTC 10 Or LG G5 Because QC3.0 Over USB Type-C Is Not Spec Compliant

This. Sucks. Benson Leung, the Google man who has been on a mission to debunk every faulty and non-compliant and wannabe USB Type-C cable and adapter sold on Amazon, has spoken rather harshly about two of this year's flagship Android devices: the HTC 10 and the LG G5.

Benson actually explained this issue in detail back in November of last year, citing the USB Type-C specification, which forbids proprietary charging methods from changing Vbus above 5V. And you guessed it, this is exactly how Qualcomm's QuickCharge 3.0 works: it can charge intermittently at 9V and 12V to achieve faster charging rates.

[Deal Alert] 16 HandyGames Titles Are Down To $0.16 On The Play Store In Many Countries

HandyGames likes to celebrate its birthday by giving you gifts. Well honestly, they're loaded gifts because when you take into consideration all the IAPs, they're going to end up making HandyGames lots and lots of money. But we're not ones to judge your IAP spending sprees or HandyGames' sneaky generosity scheme.

For its 16th birthday, the publisher is discounting 16 of its premium paid games from around $2.99 to just $0.16. And the offer isn't limited to the US, you should see it all around the world. For example, it's down to 300LBP ($0.15) for me in Lebanon, even though the lowest possible item price is 1500LBP, so HandyGames must have made a special agreement to discount it below that.

[Update: Live On Japanese Models] Sony Is Bringing Back Stamina Mode In Its Xperia Beta Program

Sony has long offered a feature on its phones called Stamina Mode. When activated, unauthorized apps can't run in the background or run sync jobs. The problem, however, is Stamina Mode interferes with Android 6.0 Doze Mode. Sony took it out of early Marshmallow builds, but the company has now confirmed it's coming back.

LeEco Announces Three Android Phones With Up To 6GB Of RAM And No 3.5mm Audio Jack

It has begun. The race to remove the 3.5mm audio jack and laugh at it like some antiquated technology your grandpa used to love has started. And I'm not sure that I or any of us really are ready for this new era of audio connectivity.

LeEco, a company we've previously covered under the Letv name, has launched three new devices in China with an impressive spec sheet, a killer price tag, and no 3.5mm audio jack. Yes, that's apparently a feature and not a problem. As far as I understand it, the reason why everyone was excited about removing the jack was that it would make it possible to build thinner smartphones and remove one bulky component that usually restrains designers and forces them to compromise or scratch their heads for months to find a spot for it.

Google Play Music Gifts Come To Brazil, Mexico, And Switzerland

Of all the countries that get to enjoy Google Play Music access, only a select few have support for Play Music gifts. That means that there's a limited number of users who can send each other the gift of music, but that number is getting a bit larger now: Brazil, Mexico, and Switzerland have been added to the list of countries with access to Music gifts.

They join Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States in letting users purchase music subscriptions for their friends, family members, or maybe distant acquaintances (we won't judge). Prices are the same for a gifted subscription as a personally purchased one, but at least you can now get others hooked on the service even if they were reticent to try it out in the first place.
