Update 11/14/14: The previous coupon expired but a new one popped up.

Even the best of us have miscalculated and run low on battery before heading to an outlet, but that's what external battery packs are for. These devices pop up on sale from time to time, and today there's a good deal on the Poweradd Pilot X5 with a 16,000mAh capacity. The price usually hovers around $40, but you can score one for $24.99 with Prime shipping using the coupon code below.

Sprint's original announcement said that today would be the big day—you'd be able to wander into a Sprint store on November 14th and buy a Nexus 6. Well, it's not clear exactly what's going on. Sprint has put the Nexus 6 up on its website, but there's no firm ship date.

After seeing the update to Chrome's beta channel recently, it was inevitable the same build, slightly improved, would reach the stable version. So here we are, Chrome for Android v39. It's not a huge update, but not like you're going to skip it or anything.

So how are you liking that Nexus phone or tablet of yours? Good? Not good? Google would like to know, but you'll have to take a quick trip to the settings to tell them. There's now a line in the About screen to send feedback to Mountain View. Try to offer constructive criticism, though.

Ever since the beginning, Android OTA updates have worked by patching each file on your system partition individually. With Lollipop, that is all changing, and it has some important implications for those who like to root and mod their devices.

Here's what a pre-Lollipop update script looked like:

As shown, the recovery looks at this, finds each file, checks its signature, then applies a patch to it if it matches. This is the slow way of doing things, but it had a big benefit for rooters and those who like to mod their devices.

Update: It looks like the Tango tablet is available to purchase if you signed up to be on the list to buy one at Google I/O. The rest of you will, presumably, have to wait.

It looks like Google's Project Tango AR / sensor-beast tablet is headed to the Play Store soon, packing an NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor and a boatload of sensors. Not to mention 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, for some reason.

Nexus 4 owners will be pleased to hear that Lollipop build LRX21T is on its way for their devices. While there isn't a specific time frame for the rollout, Sascha Prüter states in a post to Google+ that the build is "locked and loaded," indicating in the comments that LRX21T is destined for the Nexus 4 some time soon.

Just Nexus 4 for now. Our goal was to use as many letters as possible for all the different devices ;)

Helium

Developer Koushik Dutta, Koush for short, is well known around these parts for any number of apps. There's the ClockworkMod ROM Manager. There's AllCast. And if you want to back up specific apps and the data that goes with them, there's Helium (formerly known as Carbon).

Helium scratches a real itch for the platform. If you purchase a new device or wipe an old one, Google can re-install your previous apps, but it usually won't pull down your settings or game saves.

Lyft

Android 5.0 is heading out to select Moto devices, Nexus owners are firing up fastboot, and the sweet smell of candy and tangibly designed interfaces are in the air. Feeling the spirit, Lyft has updated its app with a slightly more up-to-date look.

The biggest change here is the introduction of a new sidebar. It now pops out over all other UI elements.

New, old.

Lyft has also removed the separator underneath the action bar and whitened things up a tad.
