If you're not in the market for a $200 USB microphone, this article's probably not for you - just a warning. If you are potentially in the market for such a thing, you may have heard about Blue's newest product, the Raspberry. You may also have held back because of its alleged iOS, PC, and OS X compatibility - no Android. Well, while Blue doesn't advertise that the Raspberry is Android-compatible for good reason, they did tell me that there's a very good chance it works with a lot of Android devices (those with USB OTG, that is) anyway. My finding is that this is an accurate assessment. Read More
Bluetooth speakers have become a commodity in the last few years. You can get a cheap one for next to nothing on Amazon, but you still have to spend some cash to get a nice one. The Mini Jambox from Jawbone came out a few years ago, but it has solid reviews, and it's on sale at Best Buy today. You can pick one up for just $39.99, down from the retail price of $129.99. Yesterday we found out that Kirt McMaster, CEO of Cyanogen, was stepping down to become an Executive Chairman at the company. Now Cyanogen has made a formal announcement, highlighting the new Modular OS program and reorganization.
Lior Tal has been named the CEO of Cyanogen Inc., having previously worked at the company as COO since June. Before that, he was the 'Director of Growth and Partnerships' at Facebook for five years. Kirt McMaster is the new Executive Chairman. Steve Kondik, the co-founder of the company, is now the 'Chief Science Officer,' which I assume means he is in charge of reading sensor data. Read More
Google will be shipping the Pixel and Pixel XL in a few weeks, but you can download the system dumps from the phones right now. Developer and occasional leaker LlabTooFeR has posted the files online, but don't get excited thinking these dumps will let you install Android 7.1 on your device. This is still a chance to get a look at the Pixel's software a little early, though. Read More
The Galaxy Note7 is in full-on product free-fall right now. Retailers are pulling it off shelves, Samsung has stopped production, and the once-deemed-"safe" versions of the phone are very obviously not. Things, frankly, could not have gone worse for Samsung. The Note7's launch has been brought to a screeching halt, and while many consumers may have been OK with Samsung's first battery fire flub given the relatively quick turnaround and response, this second round simply has no hope of retaining that goodwill.
This means Samsung will have to be walking-on-glass-covered-in-vinegar-and-angry-snakes levels of careful in how it manages what happens next. Read More

YouTube pushed out a small update over the weekend, bumping the version number up to 11.39. By all appearances, this is a pretty small one. Aside from the typical bug fixes and a few minor visual adjustments, there's one notable feature people have been requesting for a while. Replies to comments are now auto-filled with the name of the user you're replying to. Read More
Kirt McMaster, the controversial CEO of Cyanogen Inc., will be stepping down from his role, we've learned. An announcement could come as soon as tomorrow as part of a larger news release regarding the company's new structure and direction. McMaster changed his title on LinkedIn recently to reflect the change. It is unclear what role this would actually give McMaster at the company, or who would replace him as CEO. Cyanogen Inc.'s website still lists McMaster in his former position. Read More
