[Deal Alert] AT&T Samsung Infuse 4G Available For $50 at Target July 17-23

For those of you who've been looking for a nice deal to help beat this summer heat, Target is now offering an Infuse 4G for the low, low price of $50 on a two year contract.

dealz

The deal requires you to sign up a new AT&T account for the pricing to take effect, and is available both in their brick-and-mortar stores and online. I'm not sure if this little caveat means that current users of the service will be left out in the cold, or whether they'll just have to renew their contracts.

[Weekend Poll] Do You Actually Read App Permissions Before Accepting?

This is the latest in our Weekend Poll series. For last week's, see Which Is More Important To You In A Phone, Size Or 4G?

Quite a simple poll this weekend, and one that requires little explanation: do you read app permissions before installing an app, or do you just install with reckless abandon? Sound off in the poll below and elaborate via the comments.

[New Game Review] Asteroid Tower Defense Is The New Angry Birds Of Tower Games

Ok, we've all seen enough post-apocalyptic movies to know what the deal is here. An obscene level of asteroids has suddenly decided to wreak havoc upon this wonderful planet of ours, and it is your job in Asteroid Tower Defense to set up a space defense capable of taking the bloody things out.

Tower Defense titles are certainly not new to the Android platform, with games such as Fieldrunners HD and Tower Raiders already in the market, and the concept is simple enough, but as you progress through the levels, things get considerably harder as the asteroids increase in size and speed.

Creative Contest: Win This Rugged Otterbox Defender Case For The Motorola XOOM (MSRP $90)

The Prize

Motorola XOOM owners, listen up. Rather than keeping my XOOM protected with the very rugged Defender case from Otterbox that I reviewed last month, I'm going to give it away to one of you, as you probably need it more than me.

Otterbox is one of the top brands in the case business, and I'm sure this $90 shell that can withstand a nuclear attack will find a nice home.

Toshiba Thrive Honeycomb Tablet Re-Review: Let's Try This Again

After much debate, several upset comments, and a number of good points made - I've decided to rewrite the review of the Toshiba Thrive. Admittedly, the first review lacked the kind of thorough objectivity we usually try to achieve when we look at new hardware, and it's not fair to readers to make a jump to the conclusion without a complete analysis first. I apologize.

The Toshiba Thrive has been a darling of the Android community since it was unveiled way back in January at CES in Las Vegas, when it was still just the young, nameless "Toshiba Tablet." Fast-forward 7 months, it's July, and the Thrive is finally here - but has it matured well?

Google Releases Android 3.2 SDK With Compatibility Zoom And Media Sync From SD Cards

Following the Android 3.2 update that began rolling out to Wi-Fi Xoom models a few days ago, Google has now released the Android 3.2 SDK into the wild, adding a number of new features whilst bumping the API level from 12 to 13 following the introduction of some API changes.

The most noticeable changes to Honeycomb in this update include:

  • Optimizations for a wider range of tablets
  • Compatibility zoom for fixed size apps, which provides a pixel-scaled alternative to the standard UI stretching for apps that are not designed to run on larger screen sizes
  • Media sync from SD cards, allowing users to load media directly from an SD card to applications which use them

The new platform can be downloading using the Android SDK Manager, so if you're a developer then get going!

[Scorching Hot] Motorola Droid 3 Now $69.99 For New Accounts, $129.99 For Upgrades (Normally $199.99) At Amazon Wireless

I absolutely love posting deals and helping save our readers money, especially if the devices in question are brand spanking new. Therefore, today's late-Friday price drop on the Verizon Motorola Droid 3 that literally came out within the last few days, gives me double the pleasure.

Motorola's first dual-core phone in the Droid series, the Droid 3 sells for $199.99 directly from Verizon but was being offered at a discounted online price of $149.99 at Wirefly and Amazon Wireless as of yesterday.
